This months Evo is titled ''America takes on the World''

It has the C6 up against the Tuscan 2 and the MG SV-R

Then it has the C6 up against the new 911.

Nwe vivper against the Merc SL55

Ford GT against the F430

Mustang against the 350Z

And a small piece on American importers here in the UK and what else you can but from across the pond.
Havent read any of it yet but flicking through it looks as though the C6 fairs very well against the other cars.

Thanks, I'll track down a copy of EVO soonest.
The autoexpress article is interesting. Steering feel one of the worst things about C5 and it looks like its carried over to C6 which is disappointing.

After all this time, the C6 still looks ugly to me so it would never make my Top 10 list. However, the new Z06 looks a bit better and it will be far more interesting to see what they make of that. Pray it comes to europe just so they'll test it. Price seems to be the key to it though - rumoured to be nearer Viper than C6 so C6 may still be the only option for most, due to hand-built engines and so forth. Details to be announced on the National Corvette Museum website on 10th January I believe (when, typically, I'll be in India).

Still trying to come to terms with how a 7.0 can still be a small block though. LOL.

Which reminds me....

Read the Auto Express article and I maintain that the C5 Z06 was the ultimate Corvette to date - still faster than the C6 too.

I don't know who GM think they're fooling with all this increased wheelbase and narrower car to make it more wieldy. It's all to do with sharing the XLR platform. For a start, a longer wheelbase will make it less wieldy, the narrower track will make it less capable of generating lateral grip and as for a reduction in length - they may not have noticed but there is nothing in the nosecone of a C5 to generate any adverse weight swing and still less in the rear where there is a big gap of about 3 inches before the boot wall. So more compact it may be but the fact the C6 is still slower round a circuit than a Z06 means the advantages are exactly nil other than a perceived shrinking of exterior dimensions. Which means it comes down to looks.....which means.....

The Magaizine article states...

It's still too early for firm pricing information but the Z06 will definitely come to the UK, according to Cadillac & Corvette Europe. We'd expect it to come in at around £70,000, or about the same as a well-specced 911 Carrera S. Sounds like the cheapest 200mph car in the world

Wonder how easy it would be to drop an LS2 into a C5. Seems like a good combination to me.

You'd be better off dropping the 405bhp LS6 into the C5 rather than the 400bhp LS2 - no, wait, that's a Z06. The LS7 is going to be a hand-built engine so big dollars.
