Straw poll C55vS6 V10
Discussion
Guys
I've got a choice of a 53 plate CLK55 125k or 56 plate S6 v10 116k
Former is approx half the purchase price of the latter but these questions keep swaying the decision left or right
A) never had a V10
B) audi has more power
C) merc has bit of bodywork to sort but "no rust" according to the owner
D) road tax is half ,on the merc !
Any opinions on driving/ owning either?
I've searched the forums but not a huge amount of info

A major service including plug change should be somewhere between £450 and £650.
Set of tyres is £600 to a grand
Front discs & pads is circa £600 fitted
I had to replace the oil separator on the crankcase breather system recently at £130. You can diagnose this by trying to remove the oil filler cap with the engine running, if it's really difficult you have a problem.
Also had my thermostat replaced which was time consuming but painless.
All in all mines been spot on over 3 years.

I had a C55 and loved it but it was troublesome. Bought it on a whim but was surprised what a great car it was having never really been a Merc man.
I currently have a V10 S6 and it's light years ahead in terms of in-car tech and very secure in the current crappy weather.
I've upgraded a couple of bits on the S6 including the steering wheel with a Jack Royal special and a sports exhaust as the they are *soooo* quiet as standard and it's now getting close to a perfect winter daily driver (for me - YMMV).
Cheers!
Phil

Which exhaust did you go for. I currently have a V10 S6 and it's light years ahead in terms of in-car tech and very secure in the current crappy weather.

I've put a deposit down on the v10 today just waiting on a date for an inspection. I'm working abroad till Christmas so relying on the RAC!
I believe the answer to this thread's question is 'yes', so I'd go for the Merc:

Shaving a few seconds off my A to B time is of little interest to me, whereas feeling involved and enjoying the drive is. Just as many, if not more people, feel the other way round, and there's nothing wrong with that, but this was a poll type thread, and that's my personal opinion: RWD is more interesting for me, personally. For me to be less involved is one step closer to taking the bus.
