how to remove old vinyl wrap?
Discussion
i recently bought a 2008 lotus elise which was fitted from new with lotus' starshield clear car bra. this is in pretty manky condition due to UV exposure and needs replacing. i want to remove it, have the paint corrected and then have new clear film applied.
the strips on the lower bumper edges were easily removed with the aid of a heat gun. howver the main part [front wing and bonnnet panels] was a lot more difficult. it breaks easily when trying to peel it and pretty much all the adhesive has stayed on the car. i gave up after removing only a small patch and have not been able to remove the adhesive [tried meguiars bug & tar remover and a small dab of acetone but neither worked].
can anyone please offer advise as to how i can remove both the wrap and adhesive without spending all week on it and/or damaging the paint?
