Alarm woes on my '93 Carina
Discussion
As per title really folks.
A few months ago I went shedding after my '96 MX-5 was referred to as 'ripe'
Purchased a £300 Toyota Carina E and apart from a wiper motor failure she's been spot on.
That was until the alarm/immobiliser started playing up. For a start, I didn't even know it had one until it went of one day. Since then starting has been sporadic, sometimes it will start from the key no problems and other times it wont have any of it and I'm forced to use my trusty bit of wire jammed in the started motor and touching the battery
What I'd really like to do is have the alarm/immobiliser taken out but every garage and auto electrician I've gone to have quoted more than the car is worth just to take a look, I get the distinct feeling they can't be bothered
Any ideas or maybe there's a friendly PH'er in the South West who'd like to help, beer tokens available

If the car still has the 'factory' fit, (actually fitted here in the UK by Toyota GB), alarm/immobiliser then follow these instructions, but given you were not aware the car had an alarm then it maybe you need to drop the glovebox and locate the alarm ecu's as per the instructions.

90s jap with an aftermarket alarm is generally a 2 minute job if you know what youre doing. A proper autoelectrician should be able to do it for buttons, keep ringing round.
The nobbers that nicked my impreza did a very neat job of it - i know cos they left the whole lot in a neat pile on my driveway
