So Im working away from home, am bored (and due to cash-flow issues can't afford a high-class hooker) and have therefore decided to try and create a passable thread. I've been on the Johnnie Walker Black Label, and therefore take no responsibility if its sh*t.

Range Rovers are considered by many as transcending class (social or economic), whilst in factory stock guise anyway.

In my view, they are the most distastefully modified vehicle out there, particularly the P38 and L322. Does any other car come up for sale so often in a state of hilariously poor aftermarket 'enhancement'?

At any given time, there will be at least one P38 'Underpigeon' for sale. Same goes for a vinyl wrapped L322 with the trusty 'EBay chrome everything' pack hastily slapped all over it.

At sub £10K, early diesel L322s look very tempting to me. I think it's unfair that my retinas are assaulted every time I browse the classifieds by stuff like this:

Dat chrome.

I'd like to see some pics of the most gratuitously molested examples please. Bonus points for ads featuring gangsta-speak.

If there is a more violated car model out there, please feel free to enlighten me....

I realise that everyone can do what they like in this world with their own money, but I would have loved to have been present when the person had all that dead weight added on, stood back, and thought 'yeah!' Preferably with a pie to then smash them in the face with immediately after.

I happened to watch the WD episode on youtube last night where they transformed a L322 that had been modified; had horrible 22nd gash wheels and an awful, two-tone textured wrap :yuk: no pics but you'll find it easily enough on tube of you.

that is nowhere near the worst ranger rover i've ever seen
the only really terrible thing on it is the arches

But i have no idea how you get the idea a range rover transcends class social and economic, i don't think anything outside of exotic super cars and high end luxury such a rolls royce, bentley and maybach, says i've got money to burn and want people to know quite like a range rover.
The full size ranger rovers now start at £74k, that's more than all but the very top BMW 7 series, and if you want a petrol one, well they start at over £100k

Can someone stick this on the 'All cars look worse on black wheels' thread ?

That's pretty grim. It's hard to know where to start - the 405 style vents, all the chrome pillars....

Defenders transcend class. Range Rovers tend to be driven by those with no class.

Bloody nouveau riche.

I agree. LR are the most distasteful cars on the road these days. There are far too many tacky people around!

Are you for real? Preferred transport of builders and "scrap metal dealers" with orange wives. One word describes them: vulgar.

I really don't understand why people get so screwed up about Range Rovers, particularly on here. Fine if you don't like the aesthetics of them or the way they drive but people seem to feel the need to pigeon hole the owners into whatever best fits their prejudice.

The fact is there are a wide variety of people that own and drive them; farmers, footballers, chavs, businessmen, school run mums, people that live in the country, people that live in the city, etc etc.

It's just an expensive car that happens to be popular, and no more or less of a status symbol than any other expensive/nice car.

This 100%. Far too much pigeon holing goes on. Typically British.

I know it's awful but it looks so like a prop from sci-fi film that I actually think it's not as bad as it might be.

I think the problem with it is the fact its been made to look SO aggresive, the oversized (22 I think) wheels look tiny, this photo highlights my point:

The fact its black does tone it down somewhat, imagine it in white vomit

Hats off to the owner for that one - not only qualifies for this thread but also the bad parking thread. A truly special individual.

I think you could probably create a thread just dedicated to tasteless Range Rovers owned by Premiership footballers.

Here's Stephen Ireland.
