Whay on earth is it?

Spotted a car in the National Lottery Rollover last night and rewound it several times. Yes, it looks like an E-type at first glance, but it surely isn't, with no chrome screen top rail, no hood, strange riveting (probably fibreglass) and screen pillars incredibly thick. Anyone got an idea please?

Presumably you mean Euromillions? Camelot seems to use a red S2 roadster for the Rollover promo and from memory a silver V12 roadster was used in the euromillions campaign. I can't find any car imagery from Tuesday nights show...

It was an advert for a double rollover, that's all I noticed. after all, like most, I switch off mentally during the adverts or put the TV on pause so I can fast forward a bit later. The car was silver or silver blue, but it was bizarre.

Thought of that, but I've seen the speedster in the flesh, and I am sure it wasn't that. Here's a photo I took at the Festival of Speed and it has no resemblance at all.

Maybe someone can work it out from the plate, but it may well be registered as a Jaguar, but the screen pillars, the shape of the dash roll, etc. etc., are certainly not Jaguar.

I'd thought it looked odd & then put it down to my lack of knowledge of E-types, maybe I'm not quite as dumb as I think?

The lack of a header rail looks a bit lethal!! TV magic at it's finest, at least the other "E"s used appear genuine!

To be fair, the TV production company probably didn't know it wasn't a genuine E type. It looks like one and will sound like one regardless of the butchered MG midget 'screen.

That might be my stepfathers.... He has a business renting cars for TV and movies, and he has a blue e=type, and he does work for the national lottery....

If it IS his one, it is a Challenger kit with I think a 4.2. Lots of the parts are genuine Jag E, they bolt right on. It was registered a long long time ago so not unusual for it to be called a Jaguar sports or something on the log book, it was different way back. I would know if there was an interior shot, or I could always just ask him!

HA HA HA that IS his one, but his last one..... It is a Wildcat with a Rover V8, he sold it about 5 years ago I think but to a production company. I heard they were going to spray it red and BLOW IT UP in a scene but I am pleased it survived. He and my mum came to the Laon Historiqe in it with us in about 2009. It was a bit ropey to be honest, and yes it was used in EXTRAS with Ricky Gervais and Johnathan Ross in it i think. It did a movie where a fight scene went wrong and the stuntman headbutted the windscreen really hard, smashing it and knocking himself clean out. But the scene was so good they left it in. Will try and find out the film.

• edited to add it was silver when he had it, and was sold silver. If people feel short changed by knowing it is not real, if you saw the damage cars sustain during filming with cameras etc strapped all over them you would understand why...
