Last night I made the journey down to Portsmouth Guildhall in the wet, windy and generally miserable conditions, Joe one of my best mates and I stopped in a McDonalds on the way and it appeared to inhabited by rejects from the Jeremy Kyle show. So we ate in the car and pressed on to the gig, arriving at what looked quite an imposing building, much more grand than I was anticipating.

Anyhoo, at about half past 8 we hear the familiar and brutal sounds of Imperium starting up what turned out to be a phenomenal gig, probably one of the est I've been to in my life. A mixture of classics and material from their latest album, they were awesome, don't think i've heard a band more tight and true to the sound you get on the album. The highlights for me were Bulldozer, from the much maligned Supercharger album, Imperium and the brooding majesty that is Sail Into the Black from their latest album. It was thoroughly heavy and I am somewhat deaf today, but it was very much worth it. Definitely a band to see again!

Has anyone else taken the opportunity to see them on this current tour?

Off to see them on Saturday with my brother. He's seen them a couple times and I caught them on the Black crusade tour a few years back. Can't wait!

I went to the Portsmouth show too! I thought it was a fantastic show and left me half deaf, voice blown and with a sore neck. I have seen quite a few bands and Machine Head have to be one of my favourites to see live, I just seem incapable of being able to keep still.
My favourites of the night were Game Over, Now We Die and Halo - what an epic song to end on!

As a bonus I can see myself in the photo they took at the end smile

I can't make myself out, well at least on the Facebook pixelated rubbish biggrin

You're right, Halo was an utter epic to end on. I always start listening to it and initially wonder why, then it builds and builds to that fantastic crescendo, awesome.

Absolutely awesome show, second time I've seen them. Was at the o2 Academy and amazing show, great crowd and good banter back and forth from the stage.

Excellent glad you enjoyed it. My hearing was finally back to normal on Friday. I normally wear ear plugs, but I got to the gig opened one pack to find only one present, and then opened the second to find it was empty.
