I've just woken up to the fact that I haven't bought my ticket yet I was hoping that someone might know how to go about booking them as I have had a look on 'Ask' and have had no success. I'm also considering camping over the weekend. I read on here last year that there is a good site in the grounds. If anyone has more information on that that would be very much appreciated too.

Thanks!

Thanks for your prompt and helpful responses. I now have the Goodwood site in my 'favourites'. Might have to reconsider camping as I will need an electricity supply to recharge my camera's battery packs and power my laptop.

In recent years it's become far too overcrowded for my liking; victim of it's own success. Get there early to get a decent spot I imagine they'll limit the numbers again this year, so you'll have to be quick(ish) to get tickets.

Personally I always preferred the Friday as it was a bit more relaxed… although the Sunday was always the "main" day.

If you know anyone, then try and get a hospitality ticket.. Far more civilised. … oh, and sod taking the car, a lot better if you know someone with a PPL so you can fly in

EmmaP, we will have to talk about this on the 22nd. I was thinking of going this year too, camping over the full weekend. Anyone else local going?

I'm hoping to cover the event for a few mags. I don't know of any other locals who are going. I'd like to camp to avoid the crowds at entry points, but I need to ensure that my battery packs are charged. Three packs won't be enough for the weekend and I'll have to download files to laptop too and its battery life is only a few hours.

Enough already! We'll talk more on 22nd. Look forward to catching up with you then Warren

The GFOS website just gives brief details of a couple of campsites that are outside of the site and the event. Does anyone have any recommendations on nearby camping? Is there any camping on site at the GFOS?

BG, I've been going for quite a few years now and never seen "official" camping. There is a site near one of the gates but my impression is that it's mainly for drivers and associated hangers on. I believe some people have blagged their way into this? I only go for one day on the Friday. Rich...

Going all three days. I agree with the earlier comments about the overcrowding. I was hoping that they'd not move the dates so the F1 teams wouldn't have been turning up which would have thinned things out a bit. No F1 teams would have not bothered me.

I'd suggest getting Grandstand tickets for a good view. Also a place to hide if its too hot or pissing down.

Stopped doing the Festival these days, become too popular with ppl who drive normal cars.

Stick to the Revival now. Pete Hardman hanging the arse of the DBR1 out round Woodcote and Whizzo seeing how sideways he can get an Austin A40 ...priceless

Emma -camping is on the race course -even now you may be too late to get an electric hook up.

B. expensive, but there are many other sites around the area.

DJ -oh yes, Harman knows how to drive the classics....

press release:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATES FOR THE 2005 GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED HAVE BEEN REVISED. THE FESTIVAL OF SPEED WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON:

24.25.26 JUNE 2005

The 2005 Goodwood Festival of Speed will now be held on 24.25.26 June due to a decision by the FIA to revise its Formula One Grand Prix calendar for next year. The Festival was to be held in July but the date has been revised so that there is no clash with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The theme for next year's event is 'Racing Colours - National Pride and Culture', celebrating the essence of what makes the cars and motorcycles of different countries so typical of their makers' cultures, passions and skills. It's about what makes a Ferrari so typically Italian, and a Mercedes unquestionably German; it's about what characterises an American car or even an American driver, in contrast to his or her Japanese counterparts; it's about what makes French designs so blatantly 'Franco', and British creations quintessentially 'Anglo'. It's all about the world of national racing colours and national racing spirit.

Entry into the event will again be by advance ticket only, so visitors will need to ensure that they book in plenty of time so as to avoid any last minute disappointment. The change to advance ticket only policy has been implemented in order to preserve the Festival's unique relaxed atmosphere following a period of sustained growth.

Our aim is, purely and simply, to ensure that all visitors enjoy excellent views of the action and the best possible experience at the event.

For further information please contact the Ticket Office by telephone on +44 1243 755055, or fax +44 1243 755058 or book online at: www.goodwood.co.uk <www.goodwood.co.uk/>
