HSV GTS VT2 #16 lives again

Engine in and up and running (thanks Roger). Still a long list of jobs to do: brake judder, brake and fuel lines, paintwork, etc, etc.
Just going to drive it for now. Was a bit of a shock first few miles, as they really are quite primitive compared with the more modern cars I've been driving since crashing my VXR. Common sense was telling me to sell up and buy a new car. That was until I took it to the local car wash. A blip of the throttle (nothing too laddish) stopped the car wash team in their tracks and they all looked and grinned...

Very good to see this. Nice looking car, from a distance at least.
This has my old CV8 motor? Or did Roger resurrect the existing LS1. If it's my motor, there is probably a little more power available with VE calibration and later spark tables pasted in. Richard would do all that for a nominal fee i'm sure.
If it's the VZ motor I hope everything went to plan and the engine's running well.
Is this going to now be your sons car? If I was given that at 17 or 18 years old, i'd be like a dog with two dicks.

Hi Rob,
It is indeed your old engine and it's running very well in its new home. The car has already been remapped at some point, maybe after receiving its free flowing exhaust. Either way it feels very pokey and breaks traction without much provocation.
Santa Pod dropped the offer of a race license based on observed runs, so my son can't race at RWYB now. That's what he wanted the black VXR for. Given how close he is to 17 now his thoughts are on what he can realistically drive on the road. Top choice is a Citroen DS3, though he'd take his sister's Fiat 500 if I fitted an Abarth kit and a black wrap...
I'll have the original engine back here next week for disassembly. Hoping it's salvageable.
