Taking the big three German brands, what is your order of 'premiumness'?

I'm not talking about who's got the most dynamic range or who makes the best cars, just your view of brand perception?

My league is
1 Mercedes Benz
2 BMW
3 Audi

However of the three brands my preference for the cars is BMW first.

I would agree with your league for 'premiumness'. However in terms of popularity BMW is the winner and for desirability Audi.

Yep, I'd go with that - despite the fact that some recent Mercs can rust like a '70's Lancia.

Well, based on headquarters, probably BMW in Munich are the most Eastern, just a hair to the right longitudinally of Audi in Ingolstadt, and definatley further East of Merc in Stuttgart.

Oops - corrected.

But at least I've learnt something as well.

I don't see where that's going, you're comparing a 2001 Audi with a 2008 SEAT, neither of which are still on sale?

Porsche has to be in there? The only trouble is people see a Porsche, on your drive a quote for work goes up as well. People as in life have a habit of a book by its cover judgement on you.

I am sure that is what the OP meant by the big three!

For me

Mercedes

In my first hand experience, limited though it has to be, the 'superiority' is somewhat illusory. Unless you refer to, say, ///M cars (or MB equivalents) or the big barges, the standard daily driver cars are no better than some of the Blue Oval's current range, and definitely poorer value for money.

Nothing you can put on your drive for £299 a month is premium IMO.

It's pleasing to see most of the Cocks in Essex are either attracted to Audi or Mercedes - leaving BMW, which would be my first choice of German premium brand relatively unscathed.

Yes, I'd agree with all of that.

When I get the cheque book out and think German it's:

Porsche
BMW
Audi

Merc (Not a chance I'll buy)

ETA I do this a lot.

How is the age relevant?

You're comparing the wrong interior in any case. Exeo used the a4 cabrio interior, not the saloon one wink

Holy fking st !!!!!

So they didn't even attempt to cover it up.

I thought they changed the vents at some attempt but that is fking hilarious. I declare anyone purchasing an Audi is a suckered moron.

You could argue none of these three brands are 'premium' any more.....more like 'white goods' following the incessant increasing ubiquity of the outside lane hogging badly driven repmobile diesel 3 series A4 c class whatever popularised by cheap finance. Delusional must be an appropriate description for anyone thinking they are driving anything special which invariably amounts to nothing better than other cheaper mainstream brands.

BUT I would with reluctance vote for BMW if there is such thing as 'premiumness' albeit perceived.

Audi undoubtedly make some of the most boring euroboxes on the planet btw. AldiAudi......like brand only cheaper much more expensive......hehe

I agree with this. Mercedes BMW and Audi now make largely mass market cars; the enduring halo they currently enjoy was earned in previous times. Modern Mercedes are especially brash. Is Mercedes-Benz the most diluted brand?

Currently - anyone's guess!

Days gone by - MB for sure, then a good way behind MB, BMW and bringing up the rear AUDI.
