You know what, some of my best days on the face of this our planet have been spent sitting behind the wheel of the TVR Cars I have owned. Attending events all over the country, meeting some fine folk and driving my cars.
Now because I have an opinion on matters car related that don't meet others opinions like it appears it must, I have come to the point where I ask is it all worth it.... I don't think so. I will be relinquishing my club membership as a result of this. Not worth the hassle.
A very Merry Christmas to the good folk on here and I wish you all the very best for the future

My experience of clubs in all their forms has been that they are 'staffed' by failed Corporals and wannabe town councillors, all with little cliques.
I was a member of TVRCC for a couple of years when the club magazine was the only way of finding technical info, then along came the internerd - which of course has just as many cliques and personality clashes.
They're just bloody cars, drive one if you want and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

So True Ian..... but in order to have a personality clash you actually have to have one.... So true - I've been a member of a couple of 'classic' clubs, and kit car clubs - kit car clubs tend to be less prone, but it still happens - Classic clubs always have the 'dark subject' of originality lurking, and so called 'experts' on what's acceptable {..shudder..}I was a member of TVRCC for a couple of years when the club magazine was the only way of finding technical info, then along came the internerd - which of course has just as many cliques and personality clashes.

I reckon it's all down to the perception of power in that type of personality, but having also helped run a club for a while, you can end up forced to make a decision that you personally hate, but it's for the good of the club. I left after that happened, didn't want the hassle anymore.

Many clubs wouldn't exist without the controlling types, seems to be the other side of the coin with regards to organising a club that exists for more than a few months. I've run away from at least five car clubs over the last few years, there must be a common theme...

What free insurance cover? No one told me anything about a free cover to any festivals or meets and I've been a member for years ! Clarify please. I joined when I first bought my chim hoping for a social side to the joys of ownership and a community (plus some discounted insurance) .
Reality was the complete opposite, insurance was the second highest quote.
The community seems like an old hands network about as welcoming as a borstal reunion, great for those in it but firmly against anyone else and the community compared to other clubs online or otherwise is a joke. Scoobynet, sidc, mx5 owners are altogether better, friendlier and a lot more fun than the "blazer wearing, chesterfield sofa conservative club" that the tvr cc appears to be.
Let my membership lapse after 12 months, a truly forgettable period of membership with only the magazine being mildly interesting.
To sum it up I joined the mx5 owners club over 5 years ago, despite not making it to any events I still get emails and invitations to local events despite them knowing I no longer have the car, the local rep is enthusiastic, charismatic and seems a really nice bunch, tvr local rep would have to crash into to me to even notice he existed (or she).
