Stupid DVD player question

Do DVD players need cleaning from time to time (like a video player) as ours has suddenly lost it's sound and with my limited knowledge I've checked what I can. Thank in advance (kids are going nuts 'cos they can't hear bloody Barney the dinosaur!)

Nope. Assuming the picture is fine, then something's knacked.

Check the kids haven't 'adjusted' the settings trying to get Barney on or a cable didn't fall out.

Like Podie said... make sure the Skart lead (assuming you're using one) is fully pushed in... their design makes it possible for video to come through but no sound... push that thing in!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, followed all your advise but I gave up in the finish and turned the whole thing off...turned it on 30 secs later and it's working fine!! (maybe it then went back to factory settings). God help me when the kids are old enough to start doing computers at school!!!

Result!

Mine (Sony) looses sound if the SCART connector is disturbed even the slightest bit.

i have one that is great - but there are some things it just doesn't like.

(eg Lord of the Rings 3)
