New clutch? Help!

Ok so the handbrake isn't great so as my drive is quite steep I always leave it in first gear. Only this weekend, the car rolled back very slowly about half a wheel revolution when in gear. I'm worried that the clutch my be slipping... only 23K from new. Is it possible to back drive the gearbox? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

hi the gearbox isnt a lock it doesnt have a park position like an auto all you are doing is coupleing the wheels to the engine and the engine will turn over and let your car run away (slowly)unless the clutch slips as you drive the car or makes some strange noises theres no reason to think theres anything wrong with it i also have a steep drive get a brick to jam the wheels save yourself from the pain and loss of your chim running away

Is it possible to get the handbrake sorted or are they all bad. It does engage but right at the top of travel and feels like I'm going to snap the cable before it clicks and locks. Takes both hands to release too which never fails to impress.... I don't

My hand brake hold the car on a steep drive way, I would get it checked. Also if you press the brake while applying the hand brake it becomes more effective.

My handbrake will hold the car anywhere if you are strong enough to pull it up the extra click.
Another way out might be to try leaving it in reverse instead, assuming you have not got a clutch problem the gearing of reverse will help

Don't use the button when applying the handbrake and count the clicks. 3 clicks should be enough for most hills. 4 clicks should allow you to park on hills that mountain goats fall off.

The adjustment is fairly easy, just take off the back wheel and stick your arm in to get to the adjusters. A dealer can do it if you like but if you work out how to do it yourself, you can fine tune it so it works like a normal car.

Sounds a bit tight. Usually they are set up for one handed operation to 3-clicks and two handed with feet on dashboard operation to 4-clicks.

Still, as long as it works.
