Can anyone help me?

Yesterday one of the servers fell over! The server is running windows 2003. It started because no-one had noticed the trip had gone and the servers were running on the UPS. When it was noticed the server rebooted and hanged on applying the security settings. On trying to do a fresh boot and running restore to last know good, it came up with a registry error of 0x..51.

Trying to boot into safe mode, it came up with ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupt

I have done all of the obvious things, I eventually managed to get into the recovery console where i copied across a fresh version of the nto..exe and rebuilt the boot.ini

It still doesn’t work though!

Yes I know we should have a ERD....but we don’t! The Muppet that built the server forgot that bit

I have now done a parallel install, but I wondered if there is any software out there that can possible go in and look at rebuilding the registry?

Just to add, the server runs RAID 5 using a span of 4 SATA disks. I think this hampers things a little bit more!

Can you reinstall your backup SW on the parallel install and restore a previous system state?
