Looks like the first credible spot of this. Any word on what we can expect?

Lighter, a little faster and more expensive if Lambo follow the SV rules of previous models....Looks like the first credible spot of this. Any word on what we can expect?

I'm getting one. Deposit is down and hope to see it in central stylo before Geneva........
Got a deposit down too. I'm surprised they are introducing the SV so early (for Lambo) into the model lifespan. I guess that makes it likely there'll be an even more ludicrous run-off version...maybe an Aventador GT?It will be 4 years old in February! Then launch SV in 2015, reskin/update Aventador and Roadster in 2016? Keep that for 3 years. By then the ISR gearbox will be a relic, and will need updating, so time to launch replacement, in time for major reg changes in 2020.......
I'm sure the product cycles will reduce (ie change from 10 years+ to maybe 7 years, with a mid life refresh half way through?)
But I also read that Porsche will be leading the platform design for the replacement, which for me, will end my purchasing of new Lamborghinis.........

An interesting point about shared platforms. I'm sure the product cycles will reduce (ie change from 10 years+ to maybe 7 years, with a mid life refresh half way through?)

I was told by a mainstream European manufacturer that a brand new platform can cost around 1 billion euro to create. So I get why the large groups want to maximise returns by sharing a platform wherever possible. But to your point, where is the fun in spending a huge premium (absolute amount not just the %) on a "special" car that you know to be a re-skinned, re- badged albeit tweaked version of something much cheaper? Fine if you're oblivious your fugly Bentley was also an equally fugly but considerably cheaper Phaeton, but not so fine if you're a committed petrohead.
But here's the paradox. A beast like the probable Aventador SV would never have been built by the original company because the original company would have been long gone by now. So it is what it is. We pay more for what in reality is a professionally managed brand portfolio marketing program.
Or, perhaps, we will just find ourselves as buyers moving more into the classic market where the cars are less capable but have more character stationary than the new models have flat out.
Happy New Year.

I hear what you say about economies of scale and of course it makes sense. As a long time buyer of V12 Lamborghinis for many years, I do appreciate what Audi have done for Lamborghini and have pretty much left them alone, with the exception of build quality and OEM parts ( air con, sat nav etc.). On the whole the experience has been beneficial for all - Audi as they sell more Lamborghinis (with the Gallardo, soon to be the Hurracan) and we have cars that work better etc.
I however, have a long standing issue with Porsche AG, who are also part of the VAG group, as they were complicit in reshelling a track damaged 997 GT3RS, with the help of Porsche GB and selling as a "clean" car through their dealership network. The car was repaired outside of the dealer network, was not written off, nor was there an insurance claim. There's a long detailed thread in the Porsche forums so I won't go into the detail...........and I was in the process of negotiating on a Carerra GT! I will never buy another Porsche ever again. If they are designing the platform for use for mid engine sport cars - and I have no doubt that it will be awesome, however, then I'm not interested..........
It will be a sad day for me when that happens.........

Sure I read somewhere that they can only ever make 5000 Aventadors as they have 5 jigs that make 1000 each
Not sure how many they sell per year though so that might still be ten years production worth
Aventador LP 700-4EditNot sure how many they sell per year though so that might still be ten years production worth
Production will be limited to 4,000 units (4,099 Murciélagos were built). The molds used to make the carbon-fibre monocoque are expected to last 500 units each and only 8 have been made.

I would imagine they can sell 4000 a lot quicker than they sold 4000 Murcis' though.

Creating more moulds isn't impossible too. It's a big investment (a few eu100k) , but they can soon recoupe it through sales
I'm surprised the carbon tub tool only has a lifespan of 500, that's very low. Vertical press tools for the stamped parts last longer than that and they're obviously banging out bits of metal with some force. A well made carbon tub tool should last several thousand cycles
Hi Doug
I'm hearing that the SV will be at Geneva. Still waiting to confirm the central stilo visit.
I can't imagine that the image that was mentioned previously - the SV scoop on the road - is the finished article. Based on the LP670-4 SV(which we all loved) - I would imagine a reworked front and back (a la veneno roadster at the front - and lots of venting at the back) - an increase in power to around 750hp -some weight saving - new exhaust (maybe a race system) - and a f**k off spoiler to boot!
