a bit of advice please gents, which has the best resale value and therefore (I assume) the most financial sound choice; I do 20k miles a year, what would be the best valued car after 4 years. I will be paying the same a month (approx. £160 a month).
Fiesta 62 plate Zetec 1.25 petrol black, currently 45k miles
Mondeo 08 plate Zetec 2.0 TDCi silver, currently 32k miles

They'll both be worth the square root of sod all so pick the car that suits your needs best.

20k a year in a Fiesta? No thanks. They will both be worth buttons so buy whichever you prefer, resale value shouldn't really be an issue.

What if I said I'd keep them for two years?

I have just leased a 1.25 Zetec Fiesta for 2 years, no deposit and £131 a month. I am using it as a runabout to commute in but would not want to do 20k a year in it! I would get the Mondeo for that sort of mileage, it's not just the value at the end but the car you will be in driving for that long.

I only got my Fiesta delivered on Friday, but am enjoying driving a car where i don't notice the fuel gauge moving every journey - its the slowest accelerating car i have driven since i was 21 and i am 38 now :-)

Presumably the Mondeo is a lot cheaper to buy than the Fiesta with it being 4 years older. A quick searc on autotrader shows the Mondeo should only be costing you 2.5 to 3k.
Is the term shorter than for the Fiesta?
Buy the Mndeo I say as you will have less to lose financially and its the better car for larger miles

Not sure where you found a mondeo for that price, basically the fiesta (I already own it) is worth £6k and the mondeo I have seen advertised is £6k too. The mondeo is more car but 6 years older, I've looked at resale values of both forwarding the years by 2 and 4 years and fiesta 6 year olds sell for more than 10 year old mondeos

I'm not sure why anyone would complain about doing 20,000 miles a year in a 62 plate Fiesta. They are nice little cars and have every thing you need. People are very spoiled now.

Well if you already own the Fiesta I would go with that.
