Hi All
Due to non use i am reluctantly having to sell wifes SLK due to us now having 3 people in the household.
Mint and i mean mint 2004 29000 mile with every extra inc air scarf, command etc with brand new Hankook tyres x4 and fresh mot.
Garaged and sornd every winter since new by its 1 previous owner and then me.

Has a private plate, should i remove this prior to sale ?

Looking at buying a Nissan Leaf or similar as a local runabout, would i be much better selling privately and where ?
Should i try on here classifieds or flee bay etc as i think autotrader is not used now by many or am i wrong ?

Looking for the fastest way to get a result, any ideas ?

Cheers.

Very quick sale - sell to a trader, sounds like a lovely car any non franchised dealer would live to have on their forecourt.

I would suggest you take the private plate off (unless you sell to someone you can trust)
When we bought my wife's discovery, we exchanged a separate written receipt confirming we would transfer ownership back of the private plate to the seller. The dvla are pretty clear on this if the plate is on a car it belongs to the car "owner".

There is story of a forum member losing a very valuable plate (financially and sentimentally) because the buyer of his car, refused to return it (as previously agreed verbally)....last I heard several court hearing have occurred and the matter is still not resolved.

If you want a quick sale, confirm the value buy doing a WBAC quote, use this as your starting price and do a no reserve auction on ebay.

Good luck

Don't know about selling the car but if you want to keep the plate you need to put it on retention first. All explained on the DVLA website.

Christmas is historically the worst time to sell a car. Dealers don't want the stock as buyers do not tend to flock to the showrooms. Auctions are somewhat slack at this time. Waiting just a month will help the value. That said, if it is as pristine as you suggest, then someone who has been looking for just the right car at the right price might come forward.

One way might be to start a thread on PH.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Thanks a lot for the email. Am buying it for my son who just graduated ontop of his class in University of Nottingham,he studied Medicine and Psychology (Physiology),am so proud of him . I want it as a surprise package to appreciate him towards his achievement and to be delivered before my arrival .

I work with Cygnus Gas Field and we are presently offshore at North Sea,United Kingdom in the Cygnus project,. We do not have access to phone at the moment, its 30days off and 30days on,which is why I contacted you with internet messaging facility. Where is it located at the moment? Does it have any history I should be aware of? and MOT/TAX if you don't mind my asking.I am already in talks with the courier that will handle the pick-up and delivery after payment.

As regards the payment, I can pay you through PayPal account, using PPal instant wire transfer service, I will need your PayPal email account details. If you do not have, you can set up a PayPal account proper at www.paypal.co.uk and I will make the payment through PayPal, this way, all I will need is your PayPal email address. Also if you are not comfortable with that I can also paying through direct bank deposit, using PPal instant bank wire transfer service. I will be needing the details below..

1) Your PayPal Email Address or send me an invoice
2) Your firm price and picked Up Location Address?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Many Thanks and reply ASAP...

Jim

I was thinking of selling my car (won't say any more than that) and was going to wait until end of Feb but you seem to have done well.

Your logic seems to have been spot on.
