Very sad, I wasn't a great fan of his music but he was a nice man.
I used to watch Dr.Who with him back in the late 60's early 70's, as he was my mates older brothers best mate.

Edited because I sound somewhat in gracious, but to clarify I admired his talent enormously, just not the genres he performed in.

Very sad. The passing of another great who had quite an influence on my taste in music when I was younger. Always felt that he didn't get the recognition he really deserved, probably because he wasn't 'cool'. Mad Dogs & Englishmen is one of my favourite albums and, as a live recording, has a fantastic rawness to it. RIP Joe.
