As I am a Yoof with a new style photo card licence it expires in Feb and they want the pricely sum of £14 to renew it.

I am going to be moving house in Jan and I understand changing your address is one of the few services the offer free of charge. Does anybody know if I can use this form to change my address and update my photo for free or do I need to do some overtime for their extortionate fees.

When you change the address (you don't send a updated photo) they send you a new card that expires at same date as the previous one - so in your case one month later. When you renew the card you have to provided a new photo and it will expire 10 years later and they charge you for.

No way around paying for the renewal. One thing though, if you have a current passport you can renew on-line and then you don't have to send anything, they use your stored passport picture.

Passport was renewed in 2012. Do you know if that would work?

Yes I did it recently, you need your passport details when doing it online.

I've just changed my address.

You can renew at the same time if you need to, so it's one set of forms. If you go online to do it, it's all quite straight forward smile

O, but you'll still need to pay for the renewal. Missed that part of the question.

I had this last month...

Tried doing it online, but needed my passport number, couldnt find the passport, and computer said no every other way I tried

Realised that my passport photo was taken when I was 15/16, so not great now I'm 27 anyway.

Went to our local (9 mile drive away) post office which has a machine. £24, including the DVLA fee, was in and out within 7 minutes, new licence came through the door 3 days later (and I went on a Sunday morning)

Was very impressed with the service tbh, the actual post office extra charge was £4.50 for the photo which works for me. No doubt it'll be canned in a few years to make 'improvements', 'streamline service' and save £0.20p a year...

My points were removed too with the new counterpart which was a double bonus! (had expired anyway)

The price must have dropped, I'm sure it was either £17.50 or £20 when I did.

(I'm obviously not that sure hehe)
