Was the 997.2 available with Passive suspension?

The way I understood it, the 97.1 Sports suspension was -20mm and passive.
97.2 sportsPASM.

Anyone know?

A basic 997.2 3.6 with passive suspension, manual and LSD might be the holy grail of road cars tbh.

Yes, for the 997.2 Carrera, you could specify on base passive fixed rate dampers. PASM was a cost option.

I think the LSD was only available with the Sports PASM - which is -20mm fixed rate passive.

If that's all you're looking for, I'd agree - great car.

Lots of other cars with this spec though even within the Porsche stable.

Nope 997.1 sports suspension was not PASM. 997.2 sports suspension did have PASM. But of the 997.2 and 987.2 range only the Spyder and CR had passive sports suspension.

Why not buy the car you want and have it converted to passive suspension?. A properly set up coilover suspension (Bilstein PSS-10 for example) will be light years ahead of any standard Porsche suspension. (Adjustable ride height, damping and cornerweights, different spring rates available to fit requirements etc.). The car then simply needs re-coding to let the computers know there's no PASM fitted.

The original suspension can also be refitted at sale time if that's important.

Taken from the 997.2 brochure for the S:

Perfect road holding is assured
by the Porsche Active Suspension
Management (PASM, p. 72) and
the 10-mm lowered suspension.
For those who appreciate more
uncompromising qualities, the
PASM sports suspension with a
20-mm reduction in ride height.

PASM is fitted as standard in the
S models and is optional for
models with the 3.6-litre engine.

If memory serves Porsche's passive setup was always referred to as the "sports chassis" and was available on both 7.1 & 7.2 Carrera lineups, but as PASM was standard fitment on all 'S' models (and therfore default/preferred choice) you'll stuggle to find an 'S' with a factory fit passive setup.

Also, i don't think there has ever been such a thing as 'Sports PASM' which some have quoted.

Yes there is such a thing as sports PASM, please don't confuse matters further. Sports PASM was available on 997.2. I.e. If you selected the sports suspension on 997.2 you got a PASM set-up. On 997.1 the sports suspension option was passive.
