I have a Renault Master 2.5dci 2009 model Van i've just converted to a Horsebox, was supposed to be someone's daughters Xmas present but its got an engine fault so has not gone :-(
Firstly after driving vehicle and then parking up there's lots of oil thats been sprayed across engine, also intercooler pipes are full of oil too.
Cleaned out intercooler and pipes, changed airfilter, checked engine for visible leaks.
Ran vehicle again and noticed lots of white smoke when 1st fired up, road tested then checked engine again, same thing oil sprayed over engine, no sign of leaks from engine.
Upon revving engine in workshop engine revved upon on its own like it was going to blow its brains out, jumped in tried turning ignition off wouldn't stop so had to stall it.
This suggests Turbo running on engine oil. Bought new Turbo and replaced.
Took for road test checked engine, oil everywhere then revved up on its own again and before could get in to stall screamed its tits off and stopped.
HELP!
DO I NEED A NEW ENGINE

I get the feeling this thread may be a bit like the blind leading the blind =)

What else did you change whilst doing the turbo ?

Yep, sounds like your replacement turbo was duff also. And that your engine is now toast. Or at least, expensively buggered.

Removed egr valve as was showing a fault, completely coked up and flaps seized, decoked and freed off flaps refitted, fault gone.
Changed Turbo oil feed pipe.
Removed Turbo, took back to supplier who has checked it out and says there's no fault with Turbo.
Intercooler Radiator and pipe work getting full of oil, seems to me that engine is pressurizing and blowing oil out of rocker cover breather which connects to intercooler pipes just above Turbo.

In that case its decked, you need a new engine and the majority of the ancilliaries.

Or just start again with a decent van =)

I've just fixed a horsebox with this problem, turned out to be the rocker cover which is also the inlet manifold, the gaskets leak causing boost to push oil out the breather by the turbo straight into the inlet, It had 2 new turbos till I eventually found the fault.

I played safe and fitted new rocker cover which is about £300

Cured it

Have you tried restarting it since, it may have just pulled the oil in from the intercooler and run on that for a short while. A diesel engine will run away for quite a while before it terminally craps it's pants.

OP: before you fitted the new turbo, did you remove all the cold side pipe work, inter cooler, etc and clean the oil out of them?

If not, start there before replacing the engine.

And check engine breathers, if it can't breathe it will blow oil out.

Don't check anytning, if it has stopped of its own accord after running up it is fked.

A new engine and literally everything else as I said (second hand)

Don't chase your arse about.

Engine still turns over, fan belt almost shredded.
Yes i cleaned all oil out of pipes and rad before restarting.
I'm no mechanic but it does seem to be blowing out of rocker cover breather, and like i said that feeds to pipe directly above Turbo.
Actually still oil in engine after last rev up.

You say you are no mechanic, is it you doing the work? Your posts imply you are?

Yes i'm doing the work and no i'm not a mechanic, Bodywork and Paintwork my specialist subject but when i was younger use to strip down my Mk1 and Mk11 escorts and Cortina's and upgrade engines but that was when engines were easy to work on and not computors and hi tech st.
