I shall by acquiring such in the new year, with the list of requirements being it must have 4 doors and not be a convertible or 4x4, what scope does it leave for a cool car that brand new.

So what could be classed as cool or not standard company rep material??

Years ago in my yoof my Dad had a couple of Impreza WRX's as Company cars (not at the same time, one classic shame and one blob eye) over the years, Saloon, 4 door, nearly new. Perfect!.. Apart from Tax and petrol that is

I've got an Abarth 500c as my company hack.

I did have a Clio RS on order for this year but I've switched to a Nissan Leaf and I'm going to buy myself something V8 powered with the saving in fuel and tax.

Back in 2008 I had one of the first new shape Audi A4 S lines. It was in white and had the fairy light DRLs. I didn't think it was particularly cool, but a lot of others in my company did and for the first year or so I had strangers coming up to me telling me it was cool and just like the one they had seen on Top Gear (I never did figure that one out, but suspected it was referring to a race involving an S6 which also had fairy light DRLs!).
After that car I opted out the scheme, took the allowance and bought a 911 which is the closest to a cool car I can afford!
So it depends if you mean cool to a petrolhead or cool to the general public.

My dad was offered a 911 in 2001, but didn't like the 911 and didn't want s company car. So he did what all PH'ers would like to and bought an E46 M3 cash.

One of the guys who used to work at my place got an E92 M3 as a company car. Didn't think that was too shabby smile

My mate's boss had a V12 Vantage as a company car. I thought that was pretty cool.

Back when I ran a busy, big workshop for a guy who lived in Thailand most of his life I was given new RR vogue SE`s then LSE`s about every 18 months.
While he(when over here)used a train and bicycle to get to work himself.

I remember reading in the news at about the time when the term `yuppies` was fresh,
One guy who I went to school with and was particularly keen back then, buying cigarettes etc.to sell at school, that sort of thing.
Used his C/C budget to buy a Dodge Viper.smile
He dropped a massive bk one day and was forever known as `Clanger` from then on.

I had a Mini Cooper S company car which under normal circumstances wouldn't be cool. However it had a shortened pulley and I was only 18 so it was great fun. Biggest downside was that it was yellow cool

In 1983 I had a Capri 2.8 Injection on the firm. Not too cool now, but was greatly envied by colleagues and neighbours alike at the time. I liked it so much I had another in 1985...

Total of about 200,000 miles on the pair over four years. Used a lot of petrol mind.

I run a MINI Clubman S as my company car. Strictly it does not quite follow the rules now as it is too old, but it is more of a perk rather than customer facing tool.....

Otherwise, it 'just' falls within the rules as it has five doors ( as prescribed) but not in the traditional place!

If they are your only criteria then a Bentley Mulsanne Speed would be a good choice.
