I am in work for a few hours so decided to venture into the office, mainly as we go for a pub lunch.

Anyway, roads were dead at 8.30, my route is fairly quiet anyway, just getting to the annoying crossroads across a busy A road, a silver hatch (Seat Leon I think) reverses out from the houses just before, he gets to the junction and pulls out, as there is no traffic I pull out straight after and he accelerates to a heady 20/25 mph (its an NSL) and carries on like that which struck me as strange, as its clear I decide to overtake, the reason he is going so slowly and wandering a bit as well, his windscreen was completely obscured by condensation ! the utter penis decided to pilot a tonne and a bit of motor car, onto a fast, usually busy road with zero view of the road ahead.

I started my car this morning and waited until the windscreen was clear, it took a couple or five minutes but I got told as a kid when I started driving that unless you can see, you don't go anywhere, be it frost, condensation or whatever other reason, it is that simple.

I wish a copper had spotted him, wonder what you could be charged with ?

Still not as bad as the daft horsey woman that lives locally, piloting her stty Micra viewing the road through an eight inch porthole scratched in the frost (all other windows fully opaque), just enough for me to see her drinking a brew from a conventional mug, what goes through these peoples minds ?

Seem to see a lot of cars with all windows completely covered in condensation

I think people don't understand the recirculation controls, so they just blow damp air around the car!

What makes you think anyone prepared to drive like this concetrates in anything outside the 8inch porthole when they have clear windows?

It will only get worse if we have snow. (Well down the in the south west). Loads of idiots driving about with snow of the roof, covering the lights and a 4" hole to see through on the screen

A local woman has the habit of driving 800 yds to her mothers with no clear vision due to ice and almost ran us and 3 dogs over a few days ago.....

I dunno what world you live on but, windscreens, generally speaking here, and being made of glass, are actually rather hard.

I saw on police interceptors or something similar someone get done for this. I'm sure all they could do was a £30 fine. It's probably £60 now but they couldn't do him for anything more. Disgusting.

My car once wouldn't start so I had to move my parents car 10 foot down the drive to jump start mine. I didn't scrape the screen but would of probably of been quicker to scrape it and then move it. How people can drive on the road like it is beyond me.

I've been guilty of this many times. Generally when I am running late and don't have time to let it clear.

Did learn a big lesson with snow though... Leave it on the roof and when you need to break on the motorway it all comes down giving you zero visibility, I was terrified.

Non-endorsable FPN for 'Vehicle or part in dangerous or defective condition'.

This as a FOI from Dyfed-Powys:

Although depending on the circumstances other offences - including Dangerous Driving - could be considered.
I used to give drivers the option of properly clearing the glass or having a ticket. Never had any takers for a ticketsmile

Personally, before driving off, I make sure all windows, front, side and rear are totally cleaned, and check my lights are cleaned as well. All that ste stuck to your lights can reduce what you can see. I keep a little squeegee in my car for the windows.

Unlike this dick head here I saw the other day.

It will get when the snow comes, we will have cars with loads of snow on top blowing over all the cars behind them, and those who can't be arsed to clear their windows of snow, just a little bit on their side of the car.

Those Seat's leak like buggery, I had a Toledo and it was the same. Condensation was horrible and a right bugger to clear if you didn't have a cloth.

No excuse to drive like it though, that is just idiotic!

Don't see the big deal about that Subaru tbh, many vans you can't see out the back window.

Sure he's a bit of a douche for removing visibility out the back, but no biggy.

(Unless every window on the car was like that, then I'd agree.)

It's a visual area available to the driver who choose to ignore it, probably thinks it's cool.

Cool it isn't.

Has an electric screen in my old 1996 Granada, much like rear screens, cleared in minutes.

A while back there was a chrysler voyager locally that had black plastic sheeting in place of a drivers door window. He did have a 5 " see through hole in the centre though!

I was about to say that. Probably thinks it makes him/her look cool like they've been driving fast through the....forest...in their Forester?

Only takes 2 seconds to activate the rear wiper that would clear a visible area, probably hasn't looked out of the rear view mirror to notice it.

Most likely just road spray that has dried on it, certain cars are really bad at covering the rear window in crap - EP3 Civic Type R comes to mind

When it snowed heavily a few years back I saw a lady in an Audi Q5 with a big loaf of snow on the roof, she had to brake abruptly as someone sneaked across on red as they entered the local retail park, said loaf slid down the windscreen, was a good 8 inches of snow, she sat there trying to clear it with the wipers and that didnt work, eventally got out and made a pathetic attempt as the other occupants of the car, and me sat there watching her struggle, she did deserve it though !
