Got my car pride and joy back this week after three weeks at Grange Exeter being serviced and 'upgraded'. I have to say the service was superb and would strongly recommend them. Dealers often get a hard time on here, but Grange provided not only a service above and beyond, but discounted the service and geometry set up. OMG a discount from a AM Dealer!

Mostly I am over the moon with the geometry set up they have done on the car, if you are in the area I would definitely pop in and get it done. Its good value for money and the car handles far better as a result. Talk to Lucy, she is very helpful. There are more details in the PH AM FAQ, worth a look.

I grazed a wheelarch in rushing to get her gleaming frame into my tight fit garage after a wash and polish - was trying to avoid the rain rolleyes

Stratstone Cardiff responded so quickly and were so helpful and I had it sorted within a couple of days and was soon sleeping again biggrin.

Their contractor that did the job was brilliant (my detailer said he hadn't ever seen a better respray job - and he IS fussy) and I don't think Stratstone even took a penny as they let me deal direct for this small job.

Praise when praise is due and I let the dealer principal know too clap

not sure why people think that main dealers wont discount. not been my experience at all.
dont ask, dont get.
i always get a discount off my servicing from grange welwyn. as a consequence, i take it back.
they know this.
works for them, works for me.
this has never reduced their offering in what they do or the time and attention they take when doing it.

Always had excellent service from Trinity in Cobham, they always took absolute care of my car despite being probably the cheapest and most used car they had in each year, the detail that went into the servicing and odd bits of work done on the car meant it ran like a dream for the 3 years I had it and could be used with confidence as a daily drive. Top folks who seem to be really into their cars.

I was also really impressed with the organisation and value for money the AM run Spa-Francorchamps day in 2013 represented, loads of track time, never crowded, top notch tuition and a chance to stretch the legs on the car. Highly recommended.

Thinking of doing this in 2015 if they run it again, part of the reason for having the geometry set up done. Was it good? How was the car after?

Thinking of getting the DAE dual plate clutch and lighter fly wheel.

I live in Plymouth, the nearest main dealer being in mid Devon , 43 miles away.

The treatment I received from the dealership was nothing short of appalling, insofar as even though the car , a V8 Vantage which I had owned for a couple of months only was subject of a full Aston Martin Warranty, they refused to make an adjustment to the nearside window to prevent it fouling the weatherstrip when the door was opened.

Their logic was that adjustments were not covered by the warranty, and that to rectify the problem I would have to book the car in and pay an hours labour. I initially thought that they were skylarking and could not believe they could be so pedantic, particularly because I had paid very nearly £60,000 for the car

I vowed after the incident as detailed above, they would never have my custom again, and indeed they haven't .

I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog.

I eventually traded in the Vantage for a DB9 at Broughtons in Cheltenham, a long way from Plymouth, but if you want first class service that is the place to go.

The DB9 developed a couple of issues which were dealt with by Broughtons sending a technician from Cheltenham to my home to sort the problems out. Can't really get better than that .

Disagree with the above. Grange in Exeter have looked after my Astons since I got my first one six years ago and have always provided me with great service and the cars have been looked after brilliantly.

Looks to me like you had a disagreement over what your warranty covered. Presumably if you were right the work would have been done without cost otherwise you pay for the work. When you said it had a full Aston warranty is that the new car warranty or a purchased warranty - they are quite different. Out of interest did you buy your V8 from them or another dealer and then just taking the car to them to sort out your problems. Perhaps that is why AM Cheltenham sorted your issues out for you because you had bought the car from them.

Unfortunately I have to agree with a poor experience with Grange Exeter. Pre delivery items not done, went back in and came back even worse - I posted up images of the terrible bumper fit at the time, but don't believe I mentioned who... Went down to have tail lights replaced, came back they only did one. Also damaged the paintwork with poor fitting of tail lights.

Problem with door handle sticking, third visit before they actually sorted it.

Not to mention the car's service history not being shall we say, as expected.

I got my deposit back on my next car when they refused to do anything about it sounding like an old bus braking after 3 attempts.

I'm sure plenty of people have had good experiences, mine wasn't one.

+1 for Broughtons/HROwens. Have to say Howard and the guys really do a good job - proper quality service both pre and after sales and hence why 3 Astons in 17 months from them. I too have a more local dealer but FWIW would not go anywhere else.

No, I bought the car from the Exeter dealership, and it came with a comprehensive Aston Martin Warranty for a second hand car.

To refuse to carry out a minor adjustment such as I described , is nothing short of a disgrace. I would have thought that even if the adjustment was not covered by the warranty , it could have been done as a goodwill gesture. I could have probably sorted the problem myself, but why should I have had to having paid that sort of money for the car ?

You may have been fortunate , but you need to ask yourself if you would have been happy with such poor service ?

I suspect not, and neither would anyone else.

As far as I can see with that particular dealership it was all take and no give .

I would not ever contemplate patronising them again, and I would advise others likewise.

If you want to experience really first class service , try Howard Ganderton at Broughtons, because he will really look after you.

I have had 3 cars through Aston Martin Cambridge (they are part of the Lancaster Group) and found them to be excellent both in terms of sales and service.

Simon the dealer principle is suburb, there are several instances of their going above and beyond the call of duty the most impressive example being provision of a car for a track day when mine had issues that prevented its use.

Happy Christmas one and all!

No, I would not be happy with that service but didn't this happen sometime ago - 2010/11 IIRC? This thread is about praising the service someone received now rather than your incident that occurred four years ago.

I have bought four Astons from Grange Exeter, had them serviced each year, visited the dealership for warranty repairs (well it is an Aston) so I would perhaps change your comment to you being unfortunate rather than me being consistently fortunate over my numerous vists and several years of going to the dealership.

I can only speak for myself but they have always treated me very well and whilst my good fortune continues I will continue to take my Astons to them to be looked after.

Good for you . If you're happy, that's all that matters .

I can only highlight the rotten service I received from the dealership, but if you're happy to continue to patronise them, great.

As far as I am concerned , they are a no go area , with a reputation if you ask around , for providing poor service.

Have a look at some of the comments on this thread.

The car was fine before, during and after smile I ran mine as my daily drive, enjoyed a "spirited" run over to Spa with Cockers and Lotto, a day on circuit and then back home the next morning. Picked up ALOT of dropped rubber from the previous days (proper) racing which took until about a month later to discard, but I'm not brutal with my cars, still managed @130 on the Kemel straight though, and a very memorable half lap tucked up behind a One-77 with a nervous driver biggrin

Nothing but praise for the team at Works. Throttle recall sorted earlier this year plus tour of the facilities; they included my car in the 'new' fixed price servicing even though my car is a week or so outside the parameter; and car is currently in for some minor paint rectification which was arranged without quibble and a 30 minute run in a DB9 too. Top team and would thoroughly recommend them.
Merry Christmas one and all hope to catch up with folks in the new year.

Thanks Kris, not really one for thrashing my car either. Spa looks long enough to get up some speed without trying to hard and and is just a classic circuit, think I might do if AM organise again this year.
