I can't for the life of me understand what is in someone's head that they would look at a car - any car - and run a key down the side of it ...

Now if this was my 1.6D company hack doing 50,000 miles a year I still wouldn't be happy but it's not as I don't have one - it's my daily 1990 944 I park on the road in our village ... The paintwork wasn't immaculate but it was damn good for the year - resprayed once I believe back in about 2000ish. Looked like a decent job as well, door locks out etc.

And now some knob was gone and run his key down it just for the hell of it. They've gone along the rear wing, missed out the door and then started again on the front wing ... driver's side ...

Now, would it be worth claiming on my insurance? It's a classic policy and I think the excess is only £100 so that looks like it may be the route to take perhaps. I wonder what the premium might go up to next year - thankfully I have a protected no-claims on it ...

A 'smart' repair would cost me more I presume if I didn't go down the insurance route. £100-ish a panel, no?

You never see 'em do it though - just once, just once, let me catch them doing it. Does nothing for the blood pressure.

Merry Christmas to you as well you wker ...

I'd like you to claim to see what happens to your policy next year.

I'm betting the protected no claims does jack and it still goes up.

Would be interesting to see if / how the insurance company are and if has a catch like you have to stay with them or loose the no claims etc

P.s sorry about the car lots of idiots in the world

Just what goes on in their head? Whether the car is worth £50 or £50k I just do not understand the thought process.
Just sitting here shaking my head

There is some scum that should only be allowed breath to provide donor organs for decent people! smile

I would imagine they will spray the whole side of car so you can't notice colour difference so find a good body shop and claim.

Were you parked in a selfish manner? Not that it would excuse such actions.

This!

Wasn't it someone on here that had similar done to a 944 but if they went through the insurance it was going to be written off? I think it was all the body panels but the cost of the respray was more than the car.

Your car would, like for most if not all on here, make my day if I saw it. Probably regret all over again not buying one.
Do not let the scum win. It probably was not personal ,just jealous because they are not capable of working for such a lovely car

I never cease to be amazed just how low some people are. I really feel for you and I know how bad the desire for justice is when this sort of thing happens. I hope you can get it sorted fairly cheaply and painlessly. I think I'd get a price for repair before deciding whether to make a claim or not, you might be surprised. There is a very good body shop near me that does excellent work for a very good price. No good for you I know, but my point is that not all places cost the earth.

One thing I will say is that although the no claims is protected, as in a percentage discount on the premium, it is still possible that the premium itself will increase. They justify it as there being an increased risk because you've had to claim before, or something.

What strange behaviour. Anyone else would either think what a lovely old car so what makes somebody think to themselves "I'm going to damage that"?

I can only assume it's the sort of person that turns out to be a murderer/wife beater/peado. Deep seated mental issues.

Absolute s. I had similar on my clio. Scratched all the way down the side. frown

Place in Glasgow repaired the scratch, removed a (small) dent & imperfections and painted the whole side for £350.
