Hi,

Just looking for any info on pricing to repair/ refurb a six speed four wheel drive gearbox that's having trouble getting into 5th and 6th gears. Understand it's had to know what's really wrong until the box is opened up.

Cheers

How long is a piece of string ?

And are you talking a dirt cheap vehicle 6 speed gearbox, or like a Lamborghini or GTR type of thing ?

Understand what your saying. It's nothing special, just an 6 speed manual from an Audi.

Assume that you need a completely reconditioned box.
Once your repairer has it apart then if its less that's a bonus.

Sometimes parts arent overly expensive, so best case scenario low hundreds...this assumes you can find someone willing to strip it and replace only the bare essentials, which could be some baulk rings.

Or there may be more damage, and if they have to offer a warranty of sorts may want to do further work in order for them to offer that warranty.

Exactly what is the problem ? crunching ? stiff selector/gate, other ? Is it definitely only those 2 gears ?

Has the oil bee changed recently ? Sometimes an oil change can work wonders ( making sure to use the right oil )

Having built a few 4wd skyline gearboxes, you are looking at around £600 labour to strip, inspection and rebuild plus the costs of parts/any extra work that is needed once the box is apart. I would always recommend new bearings/seals as soon as the box is apart.

Sometimes you are better off buying a new unit or recon with warranty etc then selling the old box off on ebay or parts PH to help offset.

This was most definately the case with the TR6060 box which cost £995 brand new.
