A bit of a First World Problem this one but asking on behalf of my Father in Law.

Fil spends 6 months of the year out of the UK travelling and for business. He also enjoys having a couple of nice cars to drive when he is at home and likes to change them very regularly.

The problem is, as always, depreciation on very low mileage, prestige type cars.

His last car was a Bentley Flying Spur Speed and was very nice but he covered 6000 miles in a year and it cost him £35k between buying and selling it.

I have ordered a Golf R on a lease which got me thinking that surely there must be a 6 month lease available on prestige vehicles?

The plan would be to order a new lease car for delivery in March and for it to go back in September.

He is keen on the S Class, sometimes a Range Rover and other Luxury type cars and also a very competitive deal.

If any PHers have any experience or advice that they would like to share then I would appreciate your collective help.

Many thanks and festive wishes to you all

Surely buying nearly new and flogging at the end of the period would lessen the depreciation hit?

A.F.I.K. no one does 6 month leases. Bare in mind the lease is not just funding the capital but depreciation as well. This make it very expensive.

Most of the daily rental places will look @ a deal on a six month basis.

Google throws up loads of results. They certainly exist for the employees of most manufacturers, and a neighbour of mine works for a firm which has arrangement with Renault where they run the cars to 9000 miles. He gets a new one every 3-4mths.

One of the smaller (i.e. non-national chain) hire places round this way certainly does do this for its clients. As others have said, it must be *very* expensive, but they do do it.

Cheers guys, I'd googled it already but thought someone here may have done something similar. The Bentley was bought as a demo but still lost a few quid. I'll look into car hire as I didn't think that would be an option but I was hoping that there would be a deal similar to the lease on the BMW 640d GranCoupe but for 6 months

Thanks Swerni but we found a 6 month lease on a E350 Coupe for £450 a month but it's more an S Class size that he's after. I spoke to Cars on Demand and they were more rental than leasing but they beat Enterprise Rent a Car who quoted £14000 for 6 month rental
