I used to think i hated all stereotypical 'The...' bands... originally The Hives, The Strokes etc.

I still hate the Hives and Strokes but i've been listening to The Zutons, The Killers, The Vines and others recently and i REALLY like them.

If they had a decent guitar solo in them i'd be

Any bands you've thought you'd hate before listening to them?

Killers - Jenny was a friend of mine...

Awesome song but how do they do the 'do do do' type riff thats throughout the song in the background... is it electronic or played very high up on a bass?

Kinda. But I saw the Killers do 'live' on the telly and have since pretended I never heard it. Shame the guy is tone deaf.

The Bees!!!

I used to get annoyed at "The" band names too, but then I realised I was being stupid.

The Killers.
The Darkness.
The Hives.
The Strokes.
The White Stripes.
The Jacksons.
The BeeGees.
The Rolling Stones.
The Beatles.
The Supremes.
The O'Jays.
The Band.
The Who...

And so on!

WHat annoys me now is the depressingly long names of new Metal bands starting with "my" -

My Dying Bride
My Chemical Romance.

(The only two I can think of off the top of my head because I don't like new Metal, but there are more).

My Dying Bride have been around for an age...

On the "The" front...try the recently slightly renamed "The Electric Wizard" for something a little bit different from the usual "The" offerings.

My Dying bride are ace... but I did once buy a My Bloody Valentine minidisk before I as into MDB thinking it was them :/
but all the 'the' bands are annoying apart from 'The gathering' and one other I forget.(THErapy?! )
Even Offspring weren't as good when they were 'The Offspring'

It's just the lame uninspiring guitar bands that they now seem keen on playing on radio6 nowadays

The Cure dropped the 'The' in 1992 when they released Wish - awesome album.

The 'The' was reinstated for Wild Mood Swings* in 1996, which (IMHO) was the worst album of their career.

Is the 'The' to blame?

*If you ignore the live albums etc in between
