Looks like the battery in my wife's Cartier has given up the ghost. Can anyone recommend a place Iin London to have it replaced. Without being ripped off again by Cartier ?

Thanks

There's a place in Piccadilly underground station that'll change it for £2. However, if it's a waterproof watch, you may want to go somewhere else.

My wife's JLC quartz cost a whopping £80 to have the battery changed. Not impressed.

Dom H here on the forum should be able to help. He's located in Hatton Garden and if he can't do it himself he'll know someone locally who can.

Google Hackett Watches for contact details

I spent £45 having the battery on my wife's Cartier replaced by http://www.watchrepairuk.com

Includes a reseal and pressure test.

I'd rather a pro watchmaker did it than a bloke at a while-u-wait shoe repair and key cutting booth.

Easy enough watches to do, but potentially expensive if things go wrong. Any half competent watchmaker should be able to change the battery, and confirm sealing, at a fraction of the cost of a dealer change.
