Cayman 981 front apron - black/painted
Discussion
Lovely car.... But anyway - the two strips that run along either side of the front apron around the daytime running light. I've seen them black and body coloured on both standard and s cars - manual and PDK. Yours are black so I'm assuming you didn't select an option? Or else on certain days of the week the painters at the factory have some sherry and go crazy for no apprent reason painting stuff?
IIRC
The 2.7 Base gets black lower front apron/bumper lip as standard - radiator slats are body coloured as standard
The 3.4 S gets full coloured front bumper as standard - radiator slats are black as standared
Now optional for both is the sports design front package which comes painted in body colour.
The GTS gets the sports design front package but this is painted in matte black as standard or gloss black (GTS exterior package) - radiator slats are matte or gloss black.
As cmoose says - all or any of these parts can be optioned to be colour coded.

Thanks all. The Configurator currently suggests the standard Cayman (which I've ordered) comes with unpainted parts. But I was looking at one up the road with painted bars on the front apron and that got me thinking. However ... Just had a look and the spec sheet online says:
Front lip spoiler in black (unpainted)
Bar in front of front end air intake in black
Meanwhile it says it's body coloured on the S. I wonder if this is a change in the last 6 months? Looking at six month old cars or younger for sale - and all have black bits!
I'll check with the dealer but it seems a bit odd because I agree - black is best for most colours - especially in the air intakes.

There was a change for 2015 model cars where the base 2.7 now comes with matt black grills instead of painted (body colour).
This is a recent change hence most 2.7 cars having the colour coded front grills which was a distinguishing feature.
The (not so easy) easy distinction between 2.7 and 3.4S models are lower front apron is matt black on 2.7 and painted (body colour) on 3.4S from the front, grey brake calipers on 2.7 where as red brake calipers on the 3.4S, from the side and from the rear the oval tail pipe on 2.7 compared to brushed steel twin on 3.4S.
