Ive had 3 sony cdx-**** head units in various cars - none were that model but couldnt fault em for the (meagre) price really.
Assuming they havent catastrophically cocked something up in the design/manufacture you could probably do a lot worse.

Much of a muchness at that price point. All will have similar functionality and have similar quality amps inside.

Bought the equivalent to this around 5 years ago when I passed my test.
Has been in 7 different cars with me and never missed a beat.
Plays USB/AUX/Bluetooth phone and audio.
Allows control of iPod/iPhone/iPad too.

I had the head unit the Op has linked in his post. It didn't support Apple devices for usb control. I had to link it through the 3.5mm jack for it to work.

Who actually buys after market stereos these days other than the slightly unhinged people who'll spend thousands on a system that can pop a windscreen out, and 17/18 year olds with their first car ?
it's not the 90s anymore

Serious question?
Anyone who can't connect the device they want to, surely?

Unfortunately some of us drive older cars that do not have aux in / pre in or even a cassette player. I am stick with having to listen to my old CD's or the radio. I have around 30gb of music on my phone and the same again on an old mp3 player ,but no easy way of playing it in my car. There is a solution but it means hacking the head unit wiring and fitting some gadget.
So yes, some of us are poor and we dare to love music as much as goateed etc etc smile

Thousands of people who own an older car and the stero breaks, perhaps.

I went mechless. I took the CD player/CD changer out (more boot space) and a neat new Kenwood with USB thingy. Also has a rotary volume control rather than the fiddly 90's push buttons. I didn't need bluetooth so the unit was only about £50 or so. smile
