I need a 4x4 for work purposes, I've always had range rovers but in 2012 I bought a navara...
Not a bad thing but it let me down in the snow on Boxing Day.

Today I've purchased a discovery 4 3.0 v6. I'll let you know how I get on.....

Good choice. The 8Spd is a very nice car to drive.

Terrific bit of kit. Another year or so and I shall be looking for one to replace my 08 Discovery 3.

+1. Trying to hold out until spring as I know the prices will drop but I'm looking at the classifieds daily for an 8sp HSE. One thing I have noticed is the official LR site is best for used cars, it has more choice and the prices are pretty competitive (about £35k) . I'd also feel happier going for approved, used when spending that sort of money.

The retail price on an 8speed HSE is £37-38k at a main dealer at the moment, there may be the odd high miler going for less, but I got almost £35k for mine privately a couple of weeks ago, which is remarkable after 3 years and 34000 miles! They really hold their value, but if you're serious there's a guy called Tony Fox who sources LR cars for a finders fee, he really knows his stuff and his site is foundbyfox.com

There's a case to be made for used approved - but I'd still go for Warranty Direct in preference to the LR extended warranty.

Thanks I'll take a look. Yes, when I say £35k, that's what I want to spend but at the moment that will get me 12/62 XS spec. Still very tempting if you get one with arm rests/electric seats & premium nav/reversing camera. Spend 36k-37k and you can get a same age HSE which has it all as standard. I've been advised by my local indie to hold out until spring so that's what I will do unless the right car comes along.

Prices should soften in the spring, but if your budget is £35k you will get into an HSE privately now and I have to say that the HSE is the one to have, you will find it easier to shift when the time comes.

Thanks, I shall bear that in mind. Also, trawling the classifieds each day is part of the fun! smile
