Hi Guys:-)
My first post.. here goes!
So I'm looking for a full size SUV preferable diesel, new but don't mind a pre-owned demo or something.. I have been looking and there is not much choice out there tbh.
My first point of call was my local Audi showroom(as I currently own an S5 cabriolet), and surprisingly nothing they had really interest me, took a liking to the Q7, but it seems a little dated in and out. The Q5 is a little better but on the smaller side..
Looking for something different, quite exciting and git 60K to spend..
Any help or suggestions please...

If it were my money I'd look no further than the local Land Rover dealer. The new Range Rover Sport is a quite exceptional car and, while a brand new one might be a little pricey, used examples are just about in your budget. There's also the Discovery but, like the Q7, it's getting on a bit now and is due for replacement within a year or two.
That said, if you like your Audi, the new Q7 looks like a decent enough update of the current model, with of lots of fancy new tech.
I'd buy something like this:

Thanks for the link, much appreciated:-) I had a look and it seems like a good price for that Range.. Just think ranges are a little bit safe choice no excitement, if you know what I mean..That said, if you like your Audi, the new Q7 looks like a decent enough update of the current model, with of lots of fancy new tech.

A new Q7 or Range Rover is not exciting and most definitely NOT different.

My money would go on a Toyota LCV8. Rare to see on the roads, refined and solid residuals.
Very Interesting actually.. You don't see many of them and build quality is very good being Japanese of course :-)loskie said:
Get a Hyundai Santa Fe and spend the change on a toy. you would be mad to spend 60k on an Audi.
ha yeah sounds good:-)If I could spend less that would be a plus, but don't mind going up to 60K if the car is right and has features I'm use. Like; cornering Hid xenon, dual zone climate, heated seats, cruise control, bluetooth audio phone, back up camera, satnav etc etc..
Spent 7k on options on my Audi S5 cabriolet, so I'm use to lots of creature comforts.. That was however 3-4 years ago so I think technology has moved on just a bit.. My Audi S5 MMI doesn't have bluetooth audio, apparently I just missed it when ordering (became available like 3 months after I took delivery).. So looking forward to that too:-)

Would Sir care for 6.4-litres of American Muscle? Bit of a beast, but the depreciation will be terrifying! Hemi! America! f
k Yeah!Or how about a G-Wagen? A bit over budget, but who cares?! Show a Defender who's boss off-road!
Or a very different Mercedes approach to an SUV? Hand-built V8.
For the record, I'm also in the market for a ~£60k 4x4, but I'm waiting for the new Land Rover Discovery.
I was in the market for a £50-£60k SUV 3 months ago - with proper 4x4 ability as I prefer them that way - and having owned an LR Disco and RRS, looked at other options and was pleasantly surprised by this:

Saved some money too on my budget for what I believe is a genuinely good SUV.
So the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit definitely gets my vote - more 'toys' than a Disco 4 and just as good while better than a loaded old-shape RRS too in my opinion.

60K will get you a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit fully loaded. You could probably get the 6.4 V8 HEMI version within budget as well. Worth considering?
Interesting... Very interesting.. Thought ChryslerJeep brand was no longer in the UK, don't know where I got that from?? It does however look like a nice SUV, not sure if it looks aggressive enough but I will do more research..I like these suggestion guys, Didn't realise there was so much choice out there.
Took a quick trip to Tesco super store. Need to update myself with the current offering available.
Going to get reading!

Yes yes very true, I understand that .. Just looking for something that's not the norm uno.. I have had some very interesting suggestions which I wouldn't have even thought off.. I'm looking for something a bit different to the ones you normally see out there Best handling: Porsche Cayenne
Fastest: As Above
Best: Range Rover 4.4 Diesel
Good All Rounder: Discovery
Left Field Choice: VW Touraq Altitude
School Run: X5 Q7 RR Sport

I'm Going to spend the next weeks or so doing some more research on some of the suggestion and narrow some down then look at the ones I like.

I disagree a little. The Cayenne Turbo is genuinely exciting and different. And the Jeep with the 6.2L Hemi unit is a hoot and a half. And there is a diesel X5 which is a bit mind blowing. There is definitely something quite stunning about driving at sports car speeds while in a huge chair and 6 foot in the air. Best handling: Porsche Cayenne
Fastest: As Above
Best: Range Rover 4.4 Diesel
Good All Rounder: Discovery

But outside of comical performance you either opt for VFM or luxury. My personal choice would either be a Dacia Duster or a new RR Sport.
