3.5 v6 renault vel satis
Discussion
Its a strange one I must admit want to stick Renault have no idea why cant justify it but want something different insurance is my biggest expense running a car due to limited millage and my age 23 with 2 years driving means insurance is still expensive. Doing maybe 50 miles a week at the moment and a 200 miles round trip every few months so not bothered about mpg which I have been told is high teens low 20s I dont rely on my car so parts avalability isnt to much of an issue. i can wait till parts turn up.
When my wife had a series of Renault cars, the workshop manager said there was a local Vel Satis. He also said his staff would run and hide when they saw it drive in
On one hand it is just a car like any other. On the other it is a rare french car with possibly a limited pool of people who know them well.

There is actually a forum for them and I am amazed that Renault sold so many of them (1400 in 3 years 2002 - 2005) quite astounded in fact as I think I've only seen one in the last 10 years

I used to work for a daily rental company, and I'd imagine we had most of them! There is actually a forum for them and I am amazed that Renault sold so many of them (1400 in 3 years 2002 - 2005) quite astounded in fact as I think I've only seen one in the last 10 years

By coincidence we had one as a hire car in 2003/4 time, best hire car I've ever had and couldn't believe our luck when it turned up. Fitted 4 blokes and kit in with ease and made the Plymouth to Pompey and back trip a real pleasure.I really liked these things, and the Avantime, just for being so wilfully weird (in much the same way I rather like the Citroen C6). Would no doubt be a lovely, comfy thing to potter around in, especially in top-spec V6 form.
Hope you go for it OP. Probably a bit more costly and involved in its upkeep than a lot of other cars, but also more exclusive than most luxury cars!

Actually I'm inclined to agree with that based on a brouse on the vel satis forum where it appears plenty are being broken amongst the membership
