I thought you weren't allowed to show a car doing any kind of speed or having any kind of fun on adverts
But the new GTI advert all be it totally CGI ed up is good honest fun

Remember the gt84 adverts that got pulled for driving fast

Isn't this the same ???

I have seen it and thought it was a poor attempt at recreating the original GTi advert, at least in the original you could see the driver ducking as all the explosions were going off around him.

I may be completely wrong, but my understanding wax that they weren't to 'encorouge' fast driving on oublic roads (which, when you consider how dense many drivers are, makes some sense).

This is not on public roads, ergo...

I thought the restrictions included any suggestion that these adverts could not suggest the car was superior due to power, speed or acceleration abilities, and this one does seem to do that.

Fantastic, let's have some more !

Love the bit on the original advert where the plane hits the roof of the gti.

Found it, from the easa web site

• avoiding advertising messages based on speed, performance and acceleration;

Or the asa site, rule 19.4

• Marketers must not make speed or acceleration the main message of their marketing communications. Marketing communications may give general information about a vehicle's performance, such as acceleration and mid-range statistics, braking power, road-holding and top speed.

Does seem to fondle the edge of this somewhat smile
