Best way to find a buyer for a Gibson guitar?

I have a late 1980's but as-new-condition ES335 dot that I want to sell.

Any ideas on the best way to find a buyer? I'm a little wary of timewasters and muggers using eBay and Gumtree. Google hasn't really helped - any recommendations of a good Gibson forum would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Reckon ebay and COC would be my route.

Not sure if the forum My Les Paul has classifieds, and theyre mostly septics on there anyway....

I've never had a problem buying or selling guitars on eBay.

Gumtree? No way.

There is a classified section there but you will have to sign up first. The trade in guitars is quite brisk.

Never had an issue with ebay buying or selling guitars.

I always meet the seller or buyer though,never post.

Could I suggest selling it through Graham Hill at Guitar Classics, Webbs Road Battersea. Graham is one of the few honest people in the classic guitar trade. I've bought and sold loads through him and he is as straight as they come. www.guitar-classics.co.uk - Can't recommend him enough. He takes a cut but he gets premium money for the guitars. It's just off Northcote Road by Clapham Junction.

Well I've never had any problems selling guitars on eBay;, this includes 4 Gibsons, 2 Rickenbackers, 2 Epiphone and lord-alone-knows-how-many Fenders, Squiers, Partscasters and various bodies, necks, pickups etc.

Basically I would say make sure you describe everything to the letter, and take as many photos as possible. Price sensibly and if you have to start at a price lower than you would be happy with, put a reserve on. I've found a Buy It Now with Best Offer can sometimes work better than auctions. Several guitars I've listed as auctions, that either didn't get bids, or didn't reach the reserve, sold immediately I relisted them as BIN/BO. (Obviously some psychology at work here, perhaps someone could explain it to me!)

Finally I NEVER send a guitar abroad, and if it's at all fragile (acoustics, 335s etc.) or valuable then it's collection only.

Looked up the prices that ES335 dots are listed at on there (I'm apparently being given my fathers old guitar - its an 80s ES 335 dot), figure it'll be the thing that gives me the metaphorical kick up the backside to start playing again.

Did think that I'd let my sons have a bit of time on it ... but when I saw the prices, no way. Not even sure if I'll let them look at it, let alone play ...

OP - why are you wanting to sell? Something like that should be played.
