Looks proper weird, but at least I will be safe! Very happy regardless. Tyres are Continental WinterContacts.

Stuck 30mm spacers on the back to bring in the correct offset for the M3. The ultimate snowmobile.

Just took the car out for a spin as I have just got back from the office. The roads on my estate are like an ice rink, no gritting here so thought it would be a good test.

I am shocked at how little slippage there is even when try to put a lot of power down. Brilliant investment and I don't think i will be without a set now.

Bring on the snow ( or lack of!)

I presume that's a staggered non-M set of 068s as they did a square set specifically for the M3 for winters?

CAR magazine had one on a set when they did the M3/Clio V6/Impreza/Corvette test in South of France in Jan 01

Looks better than standard to me - nicely balanced. I've never liked the look of low-profile tyres. smile

Yup. Apprantly i was informed on M3Cutters that car was a press car. Was it a red M3 per chance?

Yes, it was, they have M3 specific offsets

Hmm, fair point. Five minutes before someone tells me they know better than I do what I like. hehe

From some angles in person the wheels really suit the car. The ride quality on these 17's is like night and day. I really prefer the ride to the OEM 19's.

It's on low profile tyres anyway.

Have to say I think it looks better with the bigger profile tyres too (not that it looks bad on the OEM items!). You say the ride quality is better, I'd be interested to hear how it handling is effected.

God timing, I've always liked the look of the '86s, and was wondering the other day if I could fit a set of 17"s for my winter tyres. I'm guessing if they fit over M3 brakes, they'll fit a 330i!

Found a 1M the other day prepared for winter, looks odd on little wheels

Little wheels? When did these become little?!!
OP, I like your car on the winters, very purposeful. Not trying to tell you what to like, but in some people's opinion they look very nice indeed.

18s were standard, 19s were an option

You guys jest but I would never have got them of it was not for my baby boy.

I drop my 19 month old at nursery each morning and the wife takes the Saab estate to her work. I could never live with myself if I crashed my car with him in it. All for the sake of £300 for a full set of rims and winters. No brainer..

I crashed my Z4M on 2011 Christmas Eve on way into work. Hit black ice and just spun off the road, idiot gritters were not out on Christmas Eve. It took ages for me to regain confidence in my driving ability afterwards.

Once i got another M I decided I'll never take the risk again. Moreso with my son. Would you wear sandles in this cold?

fk that for a laugh!
