Ten days or so before Christmas I had the sniffles, but eating well, sleeping well, supplements and Vicks First Defence saw it off, or so I thought.

Christmas day the mother-in-law came over and she had a nasty virus, which had already lasted 4 weeks. I still felt flat mentally, but had no physical symptoms.

Around boxing day I developed a slight cough, which has become worse slowly. Today it's starting to feel like a full-on cold, I've got a fever and my head hurts.

So, I don't know if I've had one virus or two, but I've been ill since mid December and am feeling progressively worse. I've been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen and staying well hydrated, but am feeling more and more run-down. I don't really know what more to do and any tips appreciated.

Many thanks

PS I don't think it's ebola.

I think at this time of year there are a lot of nasty bugs floating round, I have been on the receiving end of one since November which is only just clearing.

The only remedy is loads of sleep, water and healthy food I reckon.

It's been everywhere in the UK for the last month or so. Bloody viruses, different every year. Even the US is having worse cold flu bouts than usual.

What's the answer? The usual. Keep warm, eat healthy, water, plenty of sleep (my downfall).

So as a sort of 'old' head here, what's the answer?

A Hot Toddy.

Ignore it's from the Grauniad it's for the recipes!

I've been feeling similar, seems like I've had 3 colds since the start of December whilst feeling tired all the time.

Putting it down to eating lots of crap food and spending more time indoors with the heating on plus everyone else seems to be ill and spreading the lurgy.
