Miles per litre
Discussion
Im not even sure what a gallon is, there are imperial gallons and regular gallons, and I dare not run my tank nearly dry to find out either (unlike tripps the mathematician
)
The most Ive ever been able to put in my tank is £30 quid, or just over.
How many litres is the tank on a V8S, is it the same as a V6, and how many miles when driving normally could one expect for how many litres?
Does anyone know the cost per mile, in pence, assuming slow town driving, no hard acceleration?

OK, so I have a V6 so this may not be relavent, but I get about 32 good old MPG from my S2 (4.54L=1gal). That is driving normally and not ripping up the tarmac.
I have never filled up an empty tank, as I dare not get that low due to the bouncy fuel guage. I normally fill up after 200 miles or so.

Wow!! I got 31 once. Last time I was on the motorway I got around 19.
I agree with the above, if your looking for an acquate conversion its 4.546 litres to the gallon. (The yanks have the imperial gallon which will give 3.785 litres)
.
currently getting 210-240 litres from a tank before i bottle it and find a filling up point. filling with super unleaded (not religously omptimax as id rather have fuel than sit with an empty tank and ive yet to learn where all the beachs are
) wildfire your price of 83 is great i seem to pay closer to 90 per litre, consequenty at tank full is roughly 40-45litres at 35-40 quid. i get approx 25miles to the gallon or 5.5 miles to the litre, this works out to approx 16 english pennies to the mile.
This is achevied from a mix of motorway and city driving on a daily commute from my nice S3 wth a PBV. figures based on a months notes an i need to lie down i have a headache......
Hope it all helps would be intrsted in other folks's figures for comparison.

Great post, hate math especially when imperial - my drivings all around town, impressing the ladies as is my duty being TVR king of eastbourne
recon Im at 20 english pennies per mile then, cant be less as I dont do 25 mpg
The original brochure states tank size of 54.5 litres / 12 gallons. A fill up normally costs nearer £40.
On my Christmas morning run of 260 miles to Hull I achieved all of 11.4 mpg
,though an average speed for the journey of 77.7 mph across the 3 hours 25 mins probably contributed somewhat......... The road works on the M25 and the 20 miles of local roads at the end of the M62 meant the motorway speeds were obviously up
to get there in time for the turkey dinner.
The return run on Boxing day was better - average speed 61.3 mph & 21 mpg.....
Oh and the cost of Super Unleaded at Chesterfield was 96.7p p litre

I seem to squeeze about £40 worth in at about 90p a litre. As for the mpg that seems to vary hugely. If driving around the painfully slow streets of London (accelerating between lights!) I get about 12mpg
but on a recent trip to liverpool (220miles) i managed to use little more than half a tank giving me around 31-35 mpg
I guess I should learn something from that, like... GET OUT OF LONDON

Imperial = Yanks ? Nooooooo!
US Gallon conversions. United States liquid unit equal to 4 quarts or 3.785 liters.
The Imperial gallon is about a fifth larger than the US gallon : Double Nerd/Good old Google:

thanks for pointing that out, i was just alluding to the fact that gallon is imperial and the USofA uses the same unit but arrives and a different result which considering they use feet, inches and yards as we did before the eurocrates converted us to metres and litres ive always been confused about, a least yellabelly we agree on the conversion rate
