Have been a TVR owner on and off now for 20 years and despite test driving an S at David Hendry cars back in the 90's have never owned one. Currently have silver T350 which is a beautiful car and enjoy thoroughly but my New Years resolution (along with the usual lose weight, stop drinking, etc) is to get a burbling S series . Looking for standard S2, any colour and reasonable condition (not looking for mint). Any guidance, tips, recommendations would be greatfully received, thanks Paul

Not usually a huge difference in price between 2 or 3. A good 2 will cost more than a poor 3.

I know of one which may be for sale so have emailed the owner. He'll contact you if there's a deal to be done wink

Cheers,
L'rs

Ian, thanks for following up

Joe, I work at Stockley Park (next to Hayes) so if this car is still for sale I would definitely appreciate a helping hand (for the reference I am not technically savvy at all when it comes to cars just love TVR's)

Hi Paul...advice: DO IT!!! you will never regret it.

As with any TVR, outriggers are the main concern to look out for...plus if the indicators lenses are cracked, suck air through your teeth, tel the seller that they are impossible to get and knock a few hundred quid off...then buy some Kia Pride lenses for a tenner and fit them.

All V6 S's are similar in price, it really depends on condition. S1 and 2 have the swooping dash. S3 (and the rare S4 have longer doors for the taller gentleman). S1 have the 2.8 V6 where as the later ones have the 2.9...although there does not seem to be much difference in performance in everyday motoring.

Basically, just get one and drive it (any condition) and join one of the S gatherings or trips especially one of our annual Euro tours - THE BEST! - We even had a T350 on the 2014 tour..but he really wanted to be in an S convertible with the rest of us....: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHex6_Kf2vk

Good luck.. Andy wink

Hi,

I'm new here and I have just bought my first TVR - a 1989 S2.
There are not many S's out there at the moment, but maybe this small piece of info. (from 2014) will help you get a good feeling for the prices.
Sorry about the quality - but you can just about read it !
Tim

Good luck with your hunt sir.

You won't regret it - they are hugely satisfying to drive and to own.

And the owners are the very nicest people who really make owning an S extraordinarily special.

Regardless of dashboard preference !

Hello again Paul,
scratchchinAutoAndy is the best person to ask about losing weight, he's a little bit obsessed by shaving every possible ounce from his S. wink

But I reckon the ultimate in weight-saving was when somebody ( whistle ) left their roof targa panels in a car park in Belgium when we all went to the Nurburgring for the day!

Now THAT'S what I call a proper weight-saving strategy biggrin
