My wife's friend Turned up in a newish DS3 yesterday and had my Wife saying how lovely her car was. So being the great guy that I am, thought I would check them out as she needs her car replacing. Wow, is all I can say. After searching them on Autotrader I can't believe how many of them are cat C or D write off repaired and can honestly say I've never come across that before.

So the question is why? Expensive to repair costs, inherent design fault (making them difficult to keep on the road), typical boy racer car, why?? Wouldn't be happy getting a cheap one due to it being written off but, have no experience of them so couldn't comment.

DS3 boy racer car?

Is it not because Autotrader are suddenly highlighting all the Cat C/D cars and it's now more obvious?

Wife has one and it's great - 1.5 yrs old 20k now and not a thing to worry about so far.

Perhaps being a smaller car its more likely to suffer terminal panel damage given the crumple zones etc?

Not really a boy racer car to be honest, too new and expensive for that!

Not taking into account Citroen do some great finance packages with free insurance for young driver's, it opens up a great big market for them and the car's are affordable to a lot younger age group...so yes boy racers.

Primarily ditzy female-owned cars. Every one I see has the pink roof and wing mirror option.

Driven by primarily young drivers who take advantage of cheap finance deals and cheap ish insurance.

And as above, autotrader now highlighting write offs.

Wife had one for a couple of years; Given the DS range is supposed to be 'premium' the build quality is shoddy. Would hate to think what one is like after a bump...

Not wishing to sound like a throbber, but I've never seen a DS3 with someone < 20 at the wheel with outy-type genitals. That, and they're not quick.

No not quick, and Citroen have a history of a selling good looking car's to youth's that are not quick , and let's be honest looking good seems to be a priority for the young .....many years ago the saxo was the car of choice for the kids just out of L plates, cheap on finance and with insurance thrown in, they also did the furio version which had the vts/vtr bodykit but with a 1.1 motor, looking cool but at a slower pace.
I think the term boy racer is more attitude defined rather than velocity reached.

Furio was actually a 1.4 equivalent to a 106 quicksilver.

I think the body kitted 1.1 was the 'Westcoast'. I had a Saxo as my first car, two years free insurance made it effectively cheaper than a second hand car - it was a good car as well.

True, but the last Citroen I saw with a boy racer at the wheel was a C2. As above, I've never seen a bloke < 20 (generously I'd say 25) driving a DS3 that wasn't in a shirt/tie.

The Westcoast was a rebadged Furio in yellow.

I'd agree with that tbh. The type that dont realise when they've jumped a light, or start drifting into your lane on a roundabout completely unaware

The westcoast was the mk1 1.4 saxo and the furio was the 1.4 mk2 saxo, Defo wwasn't a 1.1
I think all the models came with the free insurance too?

You see to know your Saxos. Is it true that yellow VTR's were limited to only 150 models? I heard that years ago as when I started working for the company I now work for, all the young lads drove Saxos and waxed lyrical about them.
