Went to fill up and button (V8V) would not work. Used manual pull in boot and although it worked it came off. Is this a fuse problem or common fault. Any suggestions how to rectify? Just had main dealer service and they did something re a recall to filler cap, not sure if this has affected operation.

I had a similar issue when I first acquired my v8v, not as bad a problem, but it needed usually a few goes to get the. cover to release, it seemed to go in too far when closed, my car had a recall for the accelerator pedal and whilst in the dealer's I mentioned the issue with the fuel filler cap, and they had a fix for it.
They fitted a rubber stop button in the cover recess, and I have had no problems since, hope this helps you.

Mine did the same a couple of weeks ago......even the manual pull failed to operate it. I had read about it on here before and used a credit card to carefully prise it open. No problem since. I examined the cover for any problems and can only report that it is formed with a couple of slight 'prongs' upon which there could be a slight build up of paint. I think this caused it to stick.

Give the area around the release inside the filler flap area a good clean, then lube with some teflon type stuff (not WD40). Mine stuck once, a good clean and lube and it didn't do it again, even when freezing cold (-10!).

Common fault. AM have finally issued a recent fix a couple of months ago. Book yourself into a dealer, should be a freebie

Mine has worked perfectly since new, just had its main dealer 4 year service and they did an upgrade to the filler cap, now the b...dy thing won't open. Had to pull the manual release and lever up the flap to get it open. Did you go to Stratstone Wilmslow?

I had the opposite. Mine stopped working, manual release even was a bit touch and go. Took it in and they sorted it out. The cable is crap, they know why and fettled it so it shouldn't happen again. No mention of an upgraded part. It was about the same time.
If it ain't broke......

Similar story for me, it stopped working, used some wd40 and pushed it in and out a lot and that seemed to fix it, only it did stick at the weekend when very cold. I do feel a bit of a tw@ when I have to go into the boot to open it!
