Hi All,

Happy New Year! My old man wants to sell his knackered 2003 Primera which he has owned for 8 years for a newer car. He has his eyes set on a top spec Auris (2012 onwards). I have suggested a Focus MK3 1.6 but he isn't too keen on it, however he owned a few Ford's when I was a young lad. Are there any other options for something within 3 years old, with a decent spec? There are plenty of examples within his price range about but to help him out, I would like to hear from people who know, own/have come across these cars.

He isn't too much of a big driver as he only works 5 miles away, so it needs to be strong, reliable with a good spec.

Is there a reason why you don't want him in the Auris?

I hope the newer Auris is better than the old one. The older one is cheaply made and is adequate at best. Roomy inside though.

The Auris seems a tad bland but at the end of the day, I'm not driving it but I do believe there are better cars out there.

If he reconsiders the mk3 focus, I'd avoid the 1.6 as it' s a bit asthmatic and not very refined or that economical.

Go for the 1.0 eco boost . In either power output, it's leagues ahead of the 1.6.
