Hello

I am looking at restructuring my wife and my investmens which are a mixture of isas, some direct fund holdings and other funds held with the likes of hargreaves lansdown, fidelity etc. Total would be mid six-figures. The idea is to construct an income portfolio - maybe holding PIBS in the ISAs for maximum tax free yield, some direct equities, some funds etc. While I would like some consolidated income and CGT reporting, id like to keep my charges low. Can anyone recommend a low cost platform. I read good things about alliance trust. Anyone any experience of them (or others) please?

tks v much in advance.

Will,

If you have those precise needs with that size of portfolio, then your chosen platform will/should probably be selected on more than just cheapness and cost. Depending on your buying and selling requirements and how many wrappers (pension etc) you want to use etc, you'll find that all platforms have a specific sweet spot.

For instance, some will charge 2 partners such as you and your wife, for the price of just one of you. I suspect that the most suitable platform for you will not be the cheapest, but cheapest isn't always best. If you wanted to refine your investment strategy, then it becomes a) easier to distill the pool of possible providers and b) you'd possibly get a better service.
