Got to give my final spec for build on Jan 7th, so I can take delivery on march 1st. However I'm 50/50 on the car. The wife needs a new car and when I've had one of the 1st cars of jlr products (disco4 and evoque)I've managed cheap motoring for 18 months on the new models.

Do people think the uptake on the disco sport will be the same?

The factories are flat out and still can't keep up with demand. If you're intending to run it for a short while and then flip it, I'd be surprised if you were out of pocket to any great extent.

Have you test driven it yet?

My dealer gave me one last Friday for an hour or so. I have to say I really liked it. Not in the same league as the RR, or RRS, but on par with the Evoque. (It uses same interior trim details.) Aside it's looks, space and comfort which are fab, I thought the ride quality was simply awesome. Very well bolted together. Only downside was that I am coming from a 160BHP FL2 Auto and was expecting the 190BHP to have a bit more poke, as it feels in the later SD4 FL2's, but the additional weight of the DS (a lot bigger than the FL2) mops up that additional power increase. But for a family hauler it is just fine.

To answer yup our original question, they are going to make thousands of them, they should be very popular and the car mags/finance companies suggest excellent residuals (55% over 3 years I think), for the first year I should think it will be quite a good bet a la Evoque.

I don't know what numbers the dealers are getting. Like you I have a build slot on 12th Feb, for a March delivery. Lock down 8th Jan!

There is one on display at Autosports at the NEC currently & as soon as I found it was open & started opening the rear doors people were swarming around it & generally making very positive comments. If I were in the market for a car in that price range I'd be looking very closely at ordering one. It seemed very impressive on first inspection & the 3rd row of seats is a clever solution.
