I'm thinking about getting a soup maker, particularly the Morphy Richards Saute & Soup. I like the idea of just chucking everything in and leaving it for 20 mins. Seems less of a faff than doing it on the hob.

However, is the novelty likely to wear off after a while and it joins the pile of dusty appliances that I can no longer be bothered to use and clean eg. breadmaker and juicer. It's only the size of a kettle so I could easily find space for it on the worktop instead of putting it in the cupboard then forgetting about it.

Anybody got one? Worth buying?

What's wrong with a pan and blender?

I'd be concerned about the longevity of the non-stick inner, plus you still have to stir the veg and chop them.

Easier to buy a can and 'ding' it.

^^this^^ all day long. I love my soup and make 1-2 batches a week. I just got a nice 11L pot and a stick blender. Job done. 10min max to chop the veg, bring it to the boil, simmer a while and blend.

I'm shocked, tinned soup? It takes no time whatsoever to make your own soup, why have some from a tin which is invariably rather too salty for my tastes, and often rather bland. Easy enough to throw a few things in a pan with some stock, let it bubble away for half an hour, then blend it up with a hand blender.
Good excuse to buy a Bamix OP, if you don't have one, and would like a fancy contraption to help make nice soup, along with many many other things. Awesome bits of kit. I use it far more than I thought I would.
