Indeed, and that's why you never see camera vans in North Wales.

It's because of health & safety. If they park on a hill they might fall out the van, and spill their tea.

Hmm, so the one which spends approximately 25 hours 59 minutes a day, 8 days a week, on Willington Street in Maidstone is actually not in use then?

If they face downhill they can get a bit of momentum when they set off in pursuit of all the illegal and unroadworthy cars that go past below the posted limit

They are not allowed to park on Solsbury Hill, because of the eagles.

Why should eagles be exempt from speeding fines? if you do the crime, pay the fine!!

It's much harder to get an accurate reading as the laser photons accelerate going downhill.

Can be used as a successful defence I understand.

Also why there are thousands on the Somerset Levels...

Laser spirit levels were trickle down technology from speed camera vans when they discovered lasers could only travel level in a straight line as they don't work on hills

Guidelines actually state that they can't nick anyone on a downhill stretch because it isn't fair. But they are only guidelines and the law isn't known for being fair.

Too right it`s not fair. I got done doing 36mph DOWN Castle Hill in Reading (30 zone) and it was a van not a static camera.
I`ve seen many static camera`s on hills particularly the A303.

...but the. Reflected photons have an equal retardation on the way back up and hence completely cancel out the acceleration. Net effect = no effect.

they are allowed on a hill so long as it's on south face, except on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, where they can be on any side
