Battery mounting

Mt Battery lives in the normal place in the passenger footwell, I changed it recently and discovered no bolts or anything holding the box in place. Has anyone got a photo of what should be there so I can put it right.

Mine has a strip in the bottom of the battery box with two captive bolts, which fit through two holes in the floor of the car and nuts and washers under the car hold it in place, thus fixing the box in place.

2 x M8 bolts from underneath into two brass fittings in the battery box.

The difficult part is to line up the bolt holes.

2 person job really, one underneath with a screw driver and a torch and the other pushing the box about.

When I last took my battery out, one of the brass fittings was actually loose and I had to use 2 part epoxy mix resin to hold it in place, worked a treat.

The Op's profile doesn't say the age of the car. The early models had the battery box off the floor held with bolts going in from the wheelarch horizontally. Later models (like mine) have the bolts going up vertically from underneath the car. If a mark wasn't made when it was removed, a rule of thumb is to push it in as far into the footwell as possible and towards the transmission tunnel, then locate from beneath using a screwdriver. Fiddly but doable.

Thanks for your replies so far; the car is a late 95 model. I did take a look in the box and there are just 2 holes no captive nuts.

Yes two in the floor. Did consider using large washers with M8 bolts.
