Baby seat advice
Discussion
Evening , I need a baby seat for the cerb for days out in the summer as its a 'family car'. I've read that a 'recaro start' seat fits with impact cushion or a ' Jane montycarlo r1' with impact cushion fits aswell , could anyone confirm these for me please? Then on further reading I saw that I need a bar fixed in front of the rear seat to support the seat? Again if anyone can confirm this or not that would be great.
If I do need this bar, what is it called, where can I get one and what does it fix to exactly ? The chassis ?
Thanks in advance for any help as I do hope to take the family out in the summer otherwise I'll never see them !!
I'm in Kent if anyone does have one
Thanks

I have a pair of Jane Montecarlo R1s with impact cushions. My eldest is big enough not to need the impact cushion by law now but they're still a good idea. They fit well. I removed the sliding base part from the seats - they are designed to detach.
There's a good argument against putting children in a Cerbera if worried about crash safety, so the next opinion can be taken or left as you see fit - head restraint/protection on the factory child seats looks non-existant. I personally chose not to seek out factory seats as I feared that even a light side impact (e.g. if I spin the car) could break their necks. The Recaro Start and Montecarlo offer far better protection in this regard.
It's not an ideal car to have a crash in anyway - but those were my thoughts when buying seats.

Thanks Jamie, that's just the confirmation I needed before I buy, yes there is a thought for putting the kids in in the first place but I'll also have the wife in who will control my speed and then we all get to go out and I get to use the car! There's a good argument against putting children in a Cerbera if worried about crash safety, so the next opinion can be taken or left as you see fit - head restraint/protection on the factory child seats looks non-existant. Just to be clear, the isofix version can also be installed using just the seatbelt in the back of the cerb?Sorry to be dumb, I want to be 100% certain before plonking my hard-earned down

That's right. We removed the Isofix base after a while but it fits with too. The child and seat are secured via the car seatbelt using the impact cushion which guides/secures the belt.
I think I see - so you need the "xtend" thingummy which makes it into a group 1 seat but also then retains the whole child seat with the main 3 point belt.Stunned Monkey said:

If she falls asleep though her head falls forwards which the Xtend impact cushion prevents.
