Hope Hub - Bearing Replacement

Just picked up a second had bike for my daughter, and now realise that the rear hub could do with new bearings.

Looked on U Tube, some good demo's on changing bearings, very straight forward with the right tools.

What is confusing, when you go on Chain Reaction and look at the bearings / tools, the bearings seem simple enough to select, but there is about 5 options for the tools (tools? Bits of tube that they charge you £10 for!).

Has anyone got any practical advise as to the size of tube required to make a cheap home made bearing refitting tool?

The tool that's required for refitting the actual hub look simple to select, and essential to the process even though you only need it for about 2 seconds to click it back in by hand.

Any help appreciated

I have several socket sets, but several U Tube videos say a socket can damage the seal, so I assumed I needed something square on the edges, and the right diameter?
